It is oppressively hot today, and my brain feels fried. I should be writing emails to several people, but it seems like too much effort right now - so instead I'll just do the next installment of the A-Z meme.:)



What food do you refuse to eat?

Hamburgers. Beef in general - unless it's in very tiny chunks hidden in a soup or stew. Blood sausage (which, believe it or not, is quite popular in Poland). Pepperoni/salami etc. Also, bread crust that looks even slightly burnt. I am not too crazy about grilled/toasted food in general, because the blackened parts just taste absolutely icky to me. Same for pizza crust - if it's too dark, I will just scrape away the toppings and toss the bottom out.:P

As for herbs/seasonings, I usually stay away from hot peppers (like jalapenos) and cilantro (I can handle it in small amounts, but it doesn't take much for the smell to become overpowering). And mint. I can't tolerate a minty taste on my food. It's a taste solely associated in my mind with toothpaste and mouthwash, and not something you actually swallow.:P

What food would you find almost impossible to give up, even if it made you ill?

Cheese. I used to eat so much of it that it almost did make me ill.:/ It's the perfect comfort food for me - even a tiny bite provokes the urge to just keep stuffing my face with it... lol. I am better at keeping those urges in check now, though. I only buy small amounts and use it sparingly in my stews/salads, instead of gorging on big chunks.

When you eat out, what type of restaurant do you usually choose?

When I do eat out, it's usually either with friends or coworkers, so my involvement in "choosing" the place may not be particularly significant.;) As for my cuisine preferences, I would try almost anything, as long as I can afford it - except for MacDonald's or Burger King, lol. I love Greek, Italian, Indian, Moroccan, Chinese, Japanese (I am addicted to sushi!) - you name it. If I didn't mention a particular cuisine, it's probably because I haven't tried it yet - but likely will at some point. When it comes to dining style, I prefer quiet and casual little restaurants - big, snobbish, expensive places make me nervous. I also hate loud, crowded bars where people shove their food in while gazing at a football match on TV. I'd much rather eat at home in front of my computer screen, thank you very much.:P

I hate the taste of anything burnt as well. I like toast but it has to be really lightly done - anything past light golden brown and I don't want it.

I'm not a great lover of mint either - like you say, I guess it's something I associate more with toothpaste, mouthwash and chewing gum, and not really with anything you swallow. I don't mind mint-flavoured chocolate, but that's about the only time I eat anything minty, and only then if it's offered to me, I wouldn't go out and buy it myself.

I can have toast, but it must be done so lightly it doesn't even look like toast, you know?...;)

Mint-flavored chocolate is just... ughhh.:[ I wouldn't touch it. I can't imagine how people can find this particular flavor combination appealing.:D
