quick little meme :)

Happy Birthday, [personal profile] anwyn_elfmaiden! Slightly belated, but no less heartfelt and sincere.;) I hope you had a great day...

And since I don't really have time to say anything else, here's a meme snagged from [personal profile] goddessofchaos:

Ask me something you'd be curious to know about me about anything within reason. I will answer most things and I'll answer here.

Feel free to copy this game on your journals so I (and your other friends) can learn something new about you :-)

I'm not expecting a great deal of responses - but there are a few relatively new people on my flist who don't know all that much about me yet, so... ;)

Haha ... wouldln't you expect more people to ask when they don't know you (yet)?

How come you moved from Poland to the US? Did you move with your family?

What is your favourite season? I guess your user name could be an indication on your answer but I'll ask anyway :-D!

What was the best gift you've received?

Where are you the most at peace with yourself?

Have you ever wondered why I don't post comment stats?... Well, I'll tell you: because they would look quite depressing. The average number of comments under a post of mine is about 2. So I thought it was reasonable not to expect more this time (and I was right: I received exactly two comments on this post so far, including yours).

Now, on to your question. The "quick and dirty" answer is that my mother dragged us all here kicking and screaming.:P The more honest one is that she made the decision to move here (her brother already lived in Chicago), and we all followed along due to lack of a better plan. I wish I could have stayed in Poland, but unemployment was really bad at the time and I just couldn't see how I would support myself if I'd been left there on my own (my sister was still a teenager, so she didn't have much of a choice in the matter)...

My favorite season is late spring, when nature bursts into life.:) My LJ username is not season-related - it's more of a symbolic representation of my approach to life ("going with the flow")...

The best gifts I've received are probably the friendships that have endured the test of time and distance. For example, I have one friend who has known me for over 20 years, and we still write to each other (despite living on different continents).

I am most at peace when I am alone - either at home or outside, having a leisurely walk, or even sitting on the bus with my headphones on. No matter how much I enjoy time spent with other people, I always need solitude to recharge my batteries. Like that 100% introvert who supposedly qualifies for the insane asylum...:D

With around 70 friends that's a bit frustrating, I have to admit! :-(

When did you move to the US? Do you have US citizenship by now?

[identity profile] floatingleaf.livejournal.com 2012-05-08 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Well... most of those "70 friends" are abandoned journals.:/ I haven't removed them because if any of those people ever resurface, I don't want to miss it... *sigh*

Now that you ask, I just realized I've been here exactly 10 years (I moved in May 2002). Wow. Time flies, LOL. I obtained citizenship in November 2008.

We moved in our house 15 years ago in May ... that's hard to believe sometimes!
