So simple... so true (snagged from
slesia).
In other news, I was tagged. By
gairid. To post "ten things that recently made me happy." What an easy way to make an update.:D
In no particular order:
1) The fact that I didn't get laid off last Thursday.
2) Having learned to eat healthy, and losing weight.
3) Realizing I am actually able to prepare food that is: a)quick and easy to make, b)healthy, c)tasty, d)satisfying. All at the same time, even.:P
4) Getting excellent results during the free Health Screening at work yesterday (you know, blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose etc.; everything's perfect - so I know I must be doing something right :).
5) Having seen Eastern Promises for the THIRD time last weekend.:D
6) The wonderful book I am reading (The Charioteer by Mary Renault).
7) The abundance of Viggo pictures and interviews all over the net.:)
8) The refined Italian dinner (complete with appetizer, salad, main course and dessert) which my sister made last Sunday, and which I was able to enjoy - in moderation - without totally blowing my Weight Watchers' points.;)
9) A weird Japanese movie called Boys' Choir, about two lonely, troubled, talented and innocently gay teenagers.:P
10) My new apartment. Well... not so new anymore, since I've been here for seven months - but it makes me happy every day. The privacy, the peace, the quiet, the freedom to do whatever I want with my (however limited) space & time without asking anyone's permission... that's exactly my idea of happiness as of right now. *nods*
And since this is a tagging business, I tag the following ten people to do the same:
alliwantisanelf,
akashaelfwitch,
matan4il,
mellacita,
namarie120,
romi (I know you have no time for this, but I always tag you, so there you go ;),
slesia,
stormatdusk,
surreysmum,
willowwing.

So happy to hear about #1-4 in particular! *hugs tight* And wish me the same as far as #2-4 are concerned... Meep!
Mmmmmmm, The Charioteer is exquisite! Is this your first time reading it? ;)
And I know precisely what you mean regarding #10, and I've been in mine for over a year now!

I'm crossing my fingers for you... but let me just say that I'm possibly one of the laziest and most change-resistant people you'll ever meet - ergo, if I can do it, anyone can.:P

Actually, yes.:) I have read most of Mary Renault's ancient Greece & Rome novels - some of them more than once - but never this one. I don't know why I assumed that the contemporary books she wrote wouldn't be as interesting as the historical ones. Stupid me, I guess.;)
I can't get over how sincere and revealing she is about the whole 'gay universe'/experience... without ever using one direct or crude expression. A mistress of nuances, for sure.;P

Thank you, sweetheart! But I wouldn't bet on me. I'm very much with the change-resistance myself. ;)
I know! I was skeptical at first too, when Asia offered me the book, but what got my curiosity was the fact that on the back, it said this was one of the first book ever to show gay men as sympathetic characters. Well, I had to read on after that and I agree, she did a marvelous job in her depictions, with the masterful nuances, with the complex characters (no one-dimensional good guys) and beautiful relationships... :"> Yeah, I could go on and on.

Yeah, I could go on and on.
And I would never stop you.:P
