this and that

I really think I like my new workplace. Today was the annual company-sponsored holiday lunch at a Sheraton ballroom, including a lottery where people won things like digital cameras and iPods. And even those who didn't win anything didn't leave empty-handed, because everyone got a large shoulder-strap bag, a thermal mug and a pen - all with the company logo, of course. But the best part of it all is that after the lunch we were free to go home, while still getting paid for full 8 hours (!).

I had planned to stay 9 hours a day from Monday to Thursday, just so I could leave earlier on Friday. In reality, though, I only did 8,5 hours Monday to Wednesday (mainly because I somehow always arrived later than I'd planned, and we're not really allowed to stay later than 6 p.m.), and then 6,5 on Thursday, because my boss told me that everyone gets paid for 8 hours on Friday anyway, so I only need to have done 32 during the previous four days. So I did the math and left early, lol. Still felt tired, though. And if I had really done those 9 hours a day for four days in a row, I would probably be so dead I wouldn't even care for a free lunch or anything... LOL. So I don't know if it's worth the effort. I mean, I might do it again if I really need to leave early one day, because of a doctor's appointment or some other errand that needs to be taken care of during business hours. But not on a regular basis, I think. Or I might do the 9 (or 8,5) hours on 2-3 days of the week, depending on how tired/hungry I am by 5 p.m. on a given day (it does vary a lot). It is extremely nice to be able to leave early on a Friday... but, on the other hand, I hate coming home in the evening so drained that all I have left any energy for is checking email and flist (without writing any replies or comments), and maybe reading 1-2 short fanfic stories/chapters before bed. And that's exactly how I felt from Monday to Wednesday this week. No energy left for exercise either, I might add; which is just not good in the long run. Also, the later I get back from work, the harder it is for me to go to bed before midnight - because I feel like my evening has barely begun. And then of course I suffer the next day (yes, I can function on 5 hours of sleep a night, but less than that will inevitably result in a headache). So I just might not be made for that kind of flexibility, lol (for example, if I worked from home and didn't have to get up early/make myself look presentable/drive anywhere etc., I think I'd rather do 5-6 hours a day all seven days than otherwise; just to not have work completely dominate my daily plan, so to speak). Well... we shall see, I guess.

OMG, what an incredibly boring post I've made. I'm almost ashamed of myself... lol. But the only interesting thing I did all week was downloading some new/old interviews from [livejournal.com profile] viggo_vid (mainly Alatriste stuff, but there was also a gorgeous piece of Viggo-talk from the G.I.Jane/Walk on the Moon time period, where he looked simply stunning)... as well as Snakeskin's new album, Canta'Tronic, from mp3.sugar.com. I wanted to order the CD, but it's still not available on Amazon for some reason, and I just couldn't wait any longer.:P If there is any new music out there composed by a certain Tilo Wolff, and I know about it, I simply MUST have it. It's like a drug addiction. There are no words for what that guy does to my eardrums. And here, on this album, he has an opera singer wail deliciously against his dark, melancholy, trance-like rhythms. Oh the pure heaven of it.:D

Anyway... Blockbuster Online just sent me Wilde (finally! it's been on my list forever!...), so I might watch it tonight (rentboy!Orli!... yay!!!...;P). It's a long movie though, so I'd better get to it by 10 p.m.:)
