the return of my inner goth :P
I can't believe myself sometimes. I totally missed out on the fact that my favorite band released a new album. Last year. In May, no less. And I had no slightest clue about it until today. WTF IS WRONG WITH ME???
Actually, I know what's wrong. I no longer browse music stores/websites etc. for fear of being tempted to spend money on non-essentials. *sigh* And I keep telling myself that my iTunes library is quite extensive and that should be perfectly enough for me. HOWEVER... this is LACRIMOSA we're talking about, for heaven's sake. I own most of their albums on CD's, and some of the tapes of their music I made for my car player had to be re-made TWICE so far, due to frequent use. That should tell you something, lol. Anyway... not counting random singles and 'the best of' collections, this is their first new album since 2005. And it took me almost a year to realize that it's out there. *massive headshake*
Well... better late than never, they say. Just downloaded the whole thing from http://www.soundike.com for $1.20 total.:) I am still very tempted to just order the CD from Amazon - but I couldn't stand waiting for it to arrive before I can listen to the music, so instant download seemed like a better idea for now.:)
According to the band's official website, critics agree that this is Lacrimosa's best album so far - and after listening to it for the second time, I am inclined to believe they may be right. It is gorgeous - and I can tell already that the more I listen to it, the more beauty and depth I will discover. This music is RICH, man. The style doesn't change much over the years, but it becomes more and more refined - like good wine. It is truly a sublime sensuous experience to just close my eyes and let the sound wash over me in waves. There's nothing like really melodious, layered, powerful goth rock or symphonic metal - it gives me the shivers. Classical music in itself doesn't usually do that to me; and pure, aggressive energy of 'traditional' hard rock or heavy metal doesn't either - but a combination of both hypnotizes me to a frightening degree. And no one does that explosive blend better than Lacrimosa.
So, just because I have those fangirly butterflies in my stomach again, here are a few images to go with the post:

These are obviously not new pics, but I love the nineties' goth look on them, so yeah.:P And one more - my favorite composer Tilo Wolff through the ages:

I couldn't find any official videos from the new album on YouTube, but I found something else. Tilo's guest appearance in Kreator's Endorama. Kreator is a trash metal band whom I am not familiar with (I normally can't stand trash metal for more than 30 seconds at a time, lol) - but this song doesn't sound 'trashy' at all, and the video just rocks. Tilo looks great OMG. I LOVE that makeup and that outrageous hair. Yeah, call me crazy.:P
