food and clothes, I guess :)

Time for an update, isn't it? ;)

So, today was our annual holiday party at work. Just like last year, there was a sumptuous lunch at a fancy restaurant, and then a prize lottery. I won a $100 gift certificate to some terribly snobbish restaurant chain!... LOL. I've never even heard of any of those places, they're mostly downtown (which is where I don't go unless I have to, or unless someone else is driving...;P) and probably too 'high-brow' even for me (I say 'even', because my coworker Mike likes to tease me about being high-brow, which I don't think I am, really - not in financial sense, anyway ;P). And I don't have the slightest clue who to take along for a very special $100 dinner.:P But the certificate is valid until September'08, so hopefully I will figure it out by then... lol.

A $100 worth of food?... There go my weekly Weight Watchers points, LOL. Not that I've been counting that carefully any more... but I do watch what I eat - except for special occasions. Like today.:D Anyway, it seems that my weight loss has hit a dead stop for the time being. I shouldn't have gloated so much over it after Thanksgiving, I presume.:/ I actually gained a pound or so soon after that... and with the daily fluctuations of the scale (I can't help stepping on it at least twice a day... morbid curiosity, I guess...;), I've been pretty much hovering between 147 and 149 lbs for the past two weeks or so. And I don't really know what to do to jump-start it again. I should probably try the Core Plan, which is a slightly more rigorous version of the Weight Watchers program, where you only eat foods from certain groups (almost anything, really, except for bread and fatty dairy, which I don't eat much of anyway). It's been known to help in cases such as this, and it wouldn't be so much different from what I'm doing now - just another little step on the way to cutting down carbs & fats (and consequently, eating even more fiber). But it would require even more careful planning of meals, so that all the ingredients stick to the rules; and I don't want to do it with a few more 'special occasions' on the way (there will be another holiday lunch at work - this time for our department only - and then Christmas at home, of course). But then again, if I postpone it till January, I might actually gain a few pounds back by then. Which is something I definitely do NOT want to happen. I may look & feel much better than I used to, but I'm still only halfway down - my body mass index (a corelate of height to weight) is about 27 right now... and it should be below 25. At least that's where I want it to be. So gaining some weight back and blaming it on the holidays isn't getting me anywhere I wanna go, so to speak.:(

On a more optimistic note, though, I did some clothes shopping last weekend, and the fitting room experience was definitely more pleasant than before. I am actually able to wear skirts again, without looking like a baloon... lol. I don't think I wore a skirt once last winter... I just hated the way I looked in them. Summer skirts are a different story, because they often have a rubberband waistline and widen down from there - which means I can pull the waistline a little higher to conceal my protruding stomach. But winter skirts are usually much closer-fitting, clinging to the belly & the hips... even if they do widen considerably on the way down. So they just tended to emphasize the pear syndrome way too much for my liking.:( But now I actually found a cut that looks all right (giving me a false impression of a narrow waist... lol). And they were on sale.:) So I got two nicely patterned skirts (grey-blue & greenish-brown), as well as two thick & cozy sweaters (in a lovely dark forest green and deep burgundy, respectively), for about $60 total. Go me.:) Though that doesn't exactly make me very high-brow, I'm afraid.:D But then, I didn't even blink about spending $50 on a DVD, just because it had my favorite actor in it.:P So I guess it all evens out somehow.;)

Phew... enough of the scarily mundane babble. I'm getting hungry again - time for a can of light veggie soup. And then some exercise to conquer the guilt of the massive lemon-garlic chicken breast with a generous side of fingerling potatoes, which found its way into my stomach this afternoon, followed by a scoop of vanilla ice-cream with whipped cream on top. *sigh*

so glad you like! it's just a shame, how few viggo icons you have; it's a good thing i made this or you might have run out. ;)

But but... most of my icons are Viggo!... LOL

Then again, I probably tend to use the same 10 or 15 ones over & over. And they're mostly older stuff. I don't have any from HoV or EP, and only one from Alatriste. And that is a shame indeed.:P

So beware, for I will ask for more.;D
