ramble, ramble...

Yesterday morning the scale showed 146 lbs. Today it's a bit higher again, but still over a pound down from last week's score. So all's good. I'm losing again - if a bit slower. That's fine. As long as I drop another 10 lbs by next spring.:D

Also, today I had a day off. The boss actually reminded me that I had some unused personal time available! *shakes head in amazement* So I took today, because I was expecting a furniture delivery. Yes, I ordered a little bookcase from Target.com. Just three shelves, more than enough to house my humble book collection - basically I just wanted to fill the empty space against the wall.;) Anyway... UPS sent me an email saying that the estimated delivery time would be today, so I thought that by staying home I would ensure that the piece gets carried up the stairs by the delivery guys (I live on the third floor with no elevator). But no such luck. They actually delivered it last Wednesday. I SAW the damn UPS truck as I was driving home from work. Except by the time I circled the building and found a parking spot, the truck was gone, and there was a large cardboard box leaning against the wall by the entrance to my wing of the building. Hmphhh. So much for help in getting it upstairs. And it was definitely too heavy for my two flimsy arms.;) I could barely get it in through the door, and then sort of drag it up to the first landing (injuring myself in the process by almost tearing a nail out, so that I had to leave the box and go upstairs to bandage my bleeding finger ;). But I did manage to defeat the monster on my own. In a flash of genius, I grabbed a pair of scissors and went back down to cut the box open, dismantling the whole thing right there on the landing. Then I carried it upstairs piece by piece. Extra 15 minutes of vigorous exercise... LOL. You wouldn't believe the amounts of styrofoam floating around the staircase (and my apartment) by the time I was done... but the stairs are filthy anyway, so I don't think anyone noticed my junk contribution.:P Anyway... the bookcase is here, and will be assembled by my father as soon as he has the time to drive all the way here again.:)

But I still had the day off, even if its original purpose no longer applied.:) I can always use another long weekend.:D Not that it didn't go too fast anyway... I cleaned up the place, visited my parents, did some Christmas shopping, baked my first home-made pizza (very vegetarian, with only a sprinkling of shredded part-skim mozzarella on top; it would have been delicious, if only the crust hadn't dried up too much... *sigh*), fixed a pair of pants that I hadn't worn for a long time because they were too tight and my rampant fat kept defeating the little metal hooks that close the top of the zipper, making them fly away... well, they aren't gonna do that anymore.:D I just wish I'd had the time to watch Alatriste again... but somehow that didn't happen. I can't believe I've only seen it once since I got it...

I also received another DVD I had ordered: Musikkurzfilme, a collection of videoclips by Lacrimosa. It was supposed to be region 2, but - lo and behold! - it PLAYS on my laptop. I only popped it in to check, just in case miracles did happen - and they do! *beams* (could be because the cover says "Made in Mexico"... LOL) So I don't have to pester my busy friend in order to see it.:D

OK... need to shut up now and go to bed. *waves hastily - to whoever got that far without falling asleep from boredom - & disappears*
