food and music - what more do you need?...;P

I just have to boast today. I made The Best Food Ever. Moroccan Chicken, Date & Apricot Tagine. I have always thought that Moroccan cuisine was to die for, but this just tops everything. Imagine juicy chicken thighs & fajitas cooked to utmost tenderness in a mix of diced onion, chicken broth, fresh dates, dried apricots and some shredded lemon rind. Seasoned with crushed garlic, ground cumin, turmeric, ginger, cinnamon and a dash of red pepper. Then mixed with couscous, which absorbs any liquid and all the blended flavors. Oh, and once the cooking is done, you throw in some chopped up fresh lemon sections and a handful of fresh parsley (the recipe also mentions cilantro, but I skipped it, because I'm not too crazy about its intense 'perfumy' smell). The resulting combination of flavors will make your tastebuds explode in ecstasy.;) I swear it's the second best thing to marrying a gorgeous Moroccan woman (or man, depending on your preference) and having them cook for you.:P

Also, I've been downloading Cruxshadows since last night, and I'm not even halfway done.:) This will be one looong playlist in my iTunes library. Probably the second longest after Lacrimosa (which is over 60 tracks). Needless to say, I've also been rooting through YouTube for their videos. Which is how I discovered them in the first place. Through YouTube, that is. I was actually searching for another band, called The Dreamside, recommended to me by my sister a long time ago. Here's a good example of how one thing can lead to another. It all started with me deciding to actually download some Marillion. Yes, good old Marillion, whom I always held in high esteem, but somehow never got around to making any sort of 'the best of' collection. And since I usually like bands that are said to have been inspired by Marillion... you know. It felt kinda stupid not to refresh my acquaintance with the source, so to speak. Anyway... playing old Marillion classics reminded me of another similar band, called Galahad, whom I had first heard during that famous late night radio show back in Poland (long story, made a post about it several years back, not going to repeat myself now). So I started downloading Galahad. But I couldn't find much of their music on either of the cheap mp3 websites I am familiar with, so I decided to add some other art rock stuff to the playlist to make it longer. That made me think of Dreamside, since I only had the two tracks that my sister had sent me, and that I had tossed into a random folder and all but forgotten about (not sure why - I was probably mentally preoccupied with something else at the time). So I went to look for more Dreamside, and found enough to become quite enchanted. Their music is a sort of dreamy, new-agey goth, rather unique imo, and the singer/founder of the band, Kemi Vita, is an intriguing woman of partly Dutch and partly Italian descent. She sings in several laguages (which is always a massive plus for me, because languages are my kink, lol) and has an attractive aura of other-wordliness about her that goes perfectly well with the music. So, naturally, I wanted to see some videos too, if available. Unfortunately, there aren't too many of good quality... but the best one I found happens to feature Rogue of Cruxshadows.:) So yeah. That's how I found him. And that of course brought up a whole list of other Cruxshadows vids - so I started clicking on them randomly, out of pure, mindless curiosity - and before I knew it, I was a hardcore fan.:D It's kind of frightening how easily that happens for me sometimes.;)

Anyway... I can't resist posting that video, so here it is.:) Open Your Eyes by The Dreamside, with a guest appearance by Rogue from Cruxshadows.

Gorgeous, right?... Well, it is - even if you don't agree with me, LOL.

And before I go blind from YouTube overload, here is another one - Deception by Cruxshadows. One of my favorite songs so far. The vid is a little strange, but you can see Rogue in all his androgynous, youthful goth glory.;) I seem to have developed an instant crush on the guy - as well as on the prancing girl with the violin.:P

Yeah... sometimes it really doesn't take much to make me happy.:D

i really do get why so many people turn off so strongly to it. it's a very odd smell, often soapy. not sure why i adore it but i do. i'm growing some in a pot inside right now, and 'cilantro' is my password for my work. lol.

sort of like olives, in reverse. i can understand why people adore them, and i wish i did because you can do all sorts of cool things with them (stuffing them sounds so good to me), but gah, they can literally make me sick. weird.

Exactly! It makes me think of toiletries, not food. And I have the same problem with mint. I can't eat mint - it makes me feel like I'm eating toothpaste.:P

I used to hate olives too, but they sort of grew on me. Now I can't have a Greek salad without them. But they have to be the good ones, like Kalamata. The cheapest canned ones taste like crap.:P

Oh yes. If I couldn't find joy in the little things, my life wouldn't be particularly exciting at the moment. *sigh*

Right there with you. *hugs*
