in total absence of 'holiday cheer'
Another interesting article I feel compelled to share. I'm not sure I completely agree with the author's thesis... but if it were true, it would certainly explain a lot of what's been going on throughout the history of humankind. It's very thought-provoking, at any rate.

I also feel compelled, for some reason, to share the very disturbing dream I had last night. In the dream, I was sitting at my desk at work when suddenly all the lights went out. Like a total and very abrupt power outage. My computer screen went black... and in the next second, my vision went black too, and I lost all sense of my surroundings. I didn't know if I was fainting, or having a heart attack, or whatever the hell was going on. I didn't have time to react. I sort of just dropped into this endless black void... and I think I tried to scream, but I couldn't hear a sound. It felt like being extinguished, like a candle. I only remember thinking, oh my God, can anyone see what's happening?... are they going to catch me before I hit the floor?... will they take me to hospital? I DON'T WANT to go to hospital!!! And then I woke up, heart hammering. It was only about an hour after I'd gone to bed, but it took me some time to fall asleep again. I nearly cried with relief that it was only a dream...
I couldn't figure out WHY on earth I would even have a dream like this... and then it hit me. This is what happens to my dad. He says that his vision just suddenly goes black with no warning... and then he wakes up lying on the floor. So it would appear that my subconscious decided to very realistically re-enact the experience for me - with the added bonus of a sudden and complete power outage, such as might perhaps herald the end of civilization (obvious The Road reference here). And the fact that I am about to get my period any minute now, which always puts me in a very fragile place emotionally, certainly didn't help..:/
In other news, some brainless jerk decided to cross the street right in front of me as I was driving back home from my grocery shopping trip today. Not only that, but he put on a great show of jumping around, waving his arms and acting like he was going to throw himself under the car. He probably thought it was funny. What on earth is wrong with people these days?!?!?... As if the 'holiday season' traffic wasn't enough of a nightmare just by itself. At that point, I almost wished I'd hit that retard's skinny ass. Maybe that would have taught him something. Like, for example, DON'T MESS WITH A WOMAN WHEN SHE IS FEELING HORMONAL.
OK. End of newsflash for tonight. Don't mind me, btw - I'm just PMS-ing. *grits teeth*
