My favorite slashy places right now include Aniron, Lure of the Ring (an archive of RPS/FPS stories by Tricia, who is a truly wonderful writer) and the vigorli community on LJ. But I am always open for new possibilities.;) By the way, have you read anything by cynical_terror? She has her own fanfiction website, and some of her stories are just unbelievably hot. My favorite series, called "Palpitations", is saved in my memories... I only saw ROTK at the cinema once and regret that very much. With a movie like that, seeing it on a small TV or computer screen is just never the same... But I'm surely going to learn the EE by heart.;) I have broadband, so I should be okay.
