Ah, I know that Hotel...Very nice! There are so many charming places to stay in the Quarter--I'd love your input if you stay there. There's also a million places to eat...I will say that one of the best eating experiences we had on our last trip was Muriel's on Chartes, also, Rita's on Royal has the best po'boys :)
As for the heat, yes, it's pretty intimidating..just make sure you always have water with you. You'll enjoy it no matter what, because it's a magical place. :)
