In other news, I feel surprisingly fresh and cheerful today, despite the muggy weather (overcast and HUMID and generally nondescript, in the way typical of Chicago summer days without sun). Actually, it might have something to do with the fact that in a few hours I am going to meet up with akashaelfwitch.:) She doesn't have a car at the moment, so I'm taking her out to lunch, and then bringing her back to my place for a full afternoon & evening of fandom-related activities, like Viggo-watching and girl-chat.;P And, of course, margaritas... LOL (Akasha is inseparably associated in my mind with margaritas by now...;D).

Also, I had this nice Viggo dream about two nights ago. It wasn't very clear, but apparently I was out at some book singing/gallery opening event with a whole bunch of women, among whom I recognized only namarie120 (the others were probably ladies from the Adult_Viggo Yahoo!Group that I have never met in person... lol). Anyway, we were all sort of following Viggo around, and he didn't seem annoyed at all, and at one point he turned his full attention to me and... well, he kissed me. Very gently and tenderly and just... mmmmm. *has no words to describe the feeling* ;) I bet he does that to all his fans at public events. *snort*

What else? I finally bought the Director's Cut of Kingdom of Heaven (I waited for Borders to send me some discount coupon... lol). And I will probably surprise some people here if I say I didn't buy it for Orlando, but, well... that's the case. I bought it because of the enthusiastic reviews that said it was so much better than the theatrical version (which I liked, but found very chaotic and missing some crucial plot points... lol). And yes. It is. Finally every scene, every event, every character makes sense. I am not so much into the huge battle-scene studded epics, unless they have a deeper message buried somewhere under their bloody, noisy exterior - and this film definitely does (just like LOTR did - to state the most obvious example). There are many quiet, intimate moments in the extended version that give it a completely different feel, a new depth that I treasure. To me, cinema is about truths and emotions, inner struggles and discoveries - regardless of the epoch, costume, historical context and all that crap. It is about people - so well-developed characters and good acting are absolutely essential for me (if a movie doesn't have that, it's a complete waste of time, imo). And KoH has it (in case anyone should wonder, I don't have a problem with Orlando's acting or anything - I think he did just fine, and he looked good, obviously; he just wasn't the main reason I wanted to own this movie. If I were to buy one just for him, I'd choose one where he looks all boyish and skinny and vulnerable, with a riot of wild curls framing a baby-smooth face - since that is my favorite Orlando-image for some reason.:P).

I'm pretty sure that if something like that had happened, I would have remembered it! Maybe next time - because maybe you have to be with us for it to come true??
