Y'know, I sort of like the "don't ask, don't tell" philosophy.
It's a very good philosophy. Extremely practical in sticky situations.;D
It was a temporary position, wasn't it?
Heh. Not exactly. It STARTED out as temporary, but then I was hired by the company on a supposedly permanent basis (which of course I told my parents right away, knowing how happy it would make them) - except I had to quit after less than two months. So there. See why I'm not particularly eager to spread the news?...:/
As for the pay issue... my latest job paid $11 per hour, and in the one before that (where I got laid off last winter) I was on a yearly salary of about $29,000. Which makes the hourly pay something around $14, I guess. And I have recently received some strange, suspicious looks from recruiters asking me WHY I went from $14 to $11. So I decided to at least not go lower than that... lol. But my two first jobs after moving to the US paid $7 and $10, respectively - with no benefits. It's just landing the "good one", and holding it for over two years, that spoiled me beyond repair.;P
Maybe that $10 job might give you some contacts that would lead to future employment? Is it really all that bad of a place to work?
Heh. I honestly don't know. The main thing that held me back from accepting that offer was that it's only for three weeks. I mean, three weeks is barely enough to get adjusted to a new work environment and start feeling comfortable - at least for me. It's just putting off the job search until November, really. And I'm not particularly good at making contacts. I'm not exactly a people person. I don't even do much small talk with my coworkers - not after three weeks, anyway (three years, maybe... lol). So it just seemed kind of pointless. *shrug*
