As for painting... it took my sister years and years to get to where she is now, but some dose of artistic talent certainly runs in the family. My father paints too, except he's not a "professional".;) Even I used to draw a lot back in my teens... but I totally gave it up at some point - not being the determined sort, I guess. I just didn't think I'd ever get really good at it (though my sister says I might have if I'd been more persistent). And anyway, for me the thing I felt most passionate about was writing. Not that I ever did much of that either (at least not the "mainstream" kind ;P).
