I went to see HoV last night.
Almost by accident... lol. I was positive they wouldn't start showing it until next Friday, since that's what the main Yahoo movie page says. But when I checked the Chicago Reader (for info on something else, btw), it turned out there is actually one theater playing it already. Of course it had to be in downtown Chicago, almost right by the lake. *sigh* Driving there always makes me nervous, because of the crazy traffic, parking issues and my general lack of orientation around the area... but there was no way I could wait another week, knowing I can see it sooner - so of course I went. I took a friend with me, for moral support and directions (not a Viggo fan, but one who appreciates a good film). She doesn't drive, but has lived in Chicago much longer than I and THOUGHT she knew where that particular theater was. As it turned out, she thought of a different one.;) The movie was supposed to start at 10.30, and we made it to the right place around 11.00. To my immense relief, there was another showtime at midnight... so we just hung around in the incredibly boring lobby reeking of popcorn (which made me think of the famous Viggo poem ;), and waited. Or rather I waited, while my friend took a nap (she had woken up at 4.30 a.m. that day, but strangely enough hadn't told me about it... and I truly appreciate the fact that she didn't demand I drive her back home at once ;). Funnily enough, there was also some confusion and pointless driving around on our way back... what with my friend almost dropping from exhaustion and me being on a dangerous Viggo-high.;) Yes, I admit I even ran a red light once... but luckily it was past 2 a.m. and the intersection was empty. *huge sigh of relief* I really should follow some rules; like, for example, "don't drive immediately after seeing a Viggo movie"... but I didn't have much choice in the matter this time, did I? I had to take my friend back home, after all.;)
