So, I am almost done catching up with flist, emails and other online stuff. I see that there is a lot of Viggo news/pictures floating around the web, which makes me very happy. I am eagerly looking forward to all his upcoming movie projects.:) Speaking of which - I just found out that A Dangerous Method will be shown at the Chicago International Film Festival next month. Along with a bunch of other highly acclaimed titles. Incidentally, it just so happens that I have a shitload of unused vacation days, and my boss has already warned me not to save them all for December.:) So it looks like I might be taking at least a week off during the festival, in order to catch as many premieres as possible. I don't have a better idea for a vacation, anyway. I've been sort of saving all this time off in case something happens regarding my nearly-forgotten byuing-a-condo project - but since I haven't been doing much to make things happen in that area, they are obviously not happening. It's a truly impressive case of procrastination on my part, actually. I've been meaning to call this realtor woman whose number I got from my parents (she's a relative of an acquaintance of theirs, I gather), to ask her advice on the matter - but I keep putting it off, week after week after week. I just can't seem to find a good time to call when my mind isn't too preoccupied with something else. As a result of this, I've hardly taken any time off this year (other than individual days here and there). And it's a "use it or lose it" kind of deal, so I'd better start thinking of scheduling some vacation time pretty soon.

Also, I've been busy downloading music, which is something I had been aching to do since before the infamous thunderstorm that killed my modem. I was just about to go on a massive rampage through Soundike.com in search of new, exciting stuff when that crappy incident happened. So I'm nearly bursting with pent-up desire for fresh aural delights.;P I don't get that way very often - but when I do, nothing is important enough to keep me from it. The intensity of sensual pleasure I derive from music can be almost frightening sometimes; I totally "get high" on it, especially if it's something new and freshly discovered (or re-discovered after a long time of not listening to it). It has an incredible effect on my mood. Anyway - I've just gone through the entire discography of Dead Can Dance, whom I sort of worshipped back in the nineties. I used to have several of their albums on tapes, but didn't bring them with me when I moved to the US (there were only so many tapes I could fit into my suitcase, so I mostly took a bunch of home-made compilations). Besides, I sort of stopped following the band's progress at some point, so there were a few albums I'd never heard before. Now, the brilliant thing about Soundike.com is that you can listen to a 30-second sample of each track before you decide whether you want to download it or not - even though the price per track is only 15 cents. And you can download individual tracks as well as full albums - so it's very easy to create your own "the best of" collection. Which is what I usually do. I just found a few amazing little gems hidden away on various compilation albums that I never thought of buying back in the day, because I already knew most of the songs on them. Notably, The Lotus Eaters (from a 3-CD box set issued in 2001), which sent me dancing around the room (apparently, if the dead can dance, so can I...:P). I swear if this sort of music ever played in clubs or bars, I might be tempted to start going out again.;) (And I can safely say this, because I know it's not going to happen.) But enough of this blabber. Let me show you what I found on YouTube. Someone created this gorgeous vid to accompany Song of the Dispossessed - my absolute favorite song by Dead Can Dance (or at least, it WAS my absolute favorite until I heard The Lotus Eaters). This song is a mystical experience unto itself - and the person who posted the vid also kindly provided the lyrics below. I WORSHIP that song, people. I could listen to it over and over. It just says it all. And with those images added to it... utter perfection.

Now excuse me while I achieve a higher state of being without the use of any mind-altering substances - thank you very much - and then promptly slip into dreamland. To wake up, perhaps, as a tree spirit in some primeval forest. Or something. Yeah, I know. I'd better shut up now. Good night.:)
