Well, I'm honoured to be your favourite asexual, even if it's because I'm the only one you know :P

I was happy when I found out that demisexuality exists because I've always tended to write my fictional characters as demisexual. Well, not always, but that's what seemed most natural to me - I wanted them to have relationships, including sexual ones, but only with people they really felt a close connection with. So I was pleased to discover that people like that really existed!

I do wish there was more visibility for asexuality / demisexuality. The impression given by the media is always that everyone wants sex, all the time. I know it's not true. When I first came out as asexual on here, a lot of people already on my Flist said "Oh, me too" or "Well, I'm sexual but I don't care about sex all that much and could live with out it". I wish it was seen as more of a norm to not be bothered about sex, or only want it in certain circumstances, because I'm sure there are a lot more people out there who feel that way and are wondering what's wrong with them.

I've long wanted to appear in a magazine article talking about asexuality, but always get cold feet at the thought of colleagues and acquaintances seeing it. I did write a public blog about asexuality for a while, but had to give it up because of the amount of spam it attracted. I may start it up again on a different platform.
