I seem to be on a roll with the silly meme thing. Here goes another installment:

It was my 30th. The first time in my life I actually threw a party for more than 5 people, LOL. There were 20 of us, I think - including me, my girlfriend at the time and my two roommates. The rest were a few really good friends, and a bunch of girls from the lesbian social circle I attended.:) That's right - not a single male in sight.:P (It wasn't deliberate discrimination - I just didn't have any close male friends, however unusual that sounds.) Me & the two roommates (who were a lesbian couple) lived in a small one-bedroom apartment at the time (I had the bedroom, which was really minuscule; they slept in the living room) - so when everyone showed up for my birthday do, the place got REALLY crowded. You might think that for someone like me this would be the perfect nightmare - but in this case you'd be wrong. It was MY birthday, so each person invited was someone I liked and felt comfortable around (otherwise they wouldn't be there). Besides, it was also a sort of "goodbye" party, because I knew I might be leaving for the US within the next year or so (I was still waiting for my immigration papers, but the estimated due date was drawing near). And I knew I most likely wouldn't be seeing any of these women ever again after I leave. So I really wanted to be with them on my birthday. And I have very fond memories of that evening, even if I did feel slightly nervous about being the "hostess" and the center of attention.;)

Which, I suppose, proves I CAN be social sometimes - in carefully hand-picked company.:) The thing is, it took me years to "pick" that particular group, and after I left it on the other side of the Atlantic, I had to start from scratch. And it just never happened again. Not in "real life", anyway. It sort of happened on the internet... but that is obviously not quite the same thing. So it was my first AND last party for more than 5 people.:) Btw, I wonder how many of the women who were there still think about me sometimes...
