Actually, in the USA there are plenty of clothes for oversized women, since the majority of Americans are significantly overweight; but what defies my understanding is why most of these clothes are designed in a way that does not look flattering on a round body at all. For example, the fabrics cling to all the abundant curves, instead of masking them; or the pant legs taper down towards the ankle, thus emphasizing the big butt. WTF??? I'm not grossly overweight - not yet, anyway ;) - but my belly does stick out a bit more than my boobs, unfortunately, and I know exactly what type of clothes I should wear to make up for that annoying disproportion; except that this particular type of clothes is very hard to find. I need pants that keep my stomach in check without clinging too much to the butt and thighs - if you know what I mean. Relaxed pant legs that widen towards the bottom work best for me - but they don't seem to be making those anymore!... I only have one pair that still fits, and I can't be wearing them every day, can I?... What they call a "relaxed fit" here is a huge shapeless baloon on thin legs (and that just grosses me out... lol). As opposed to the tight fit, which works only if you don't have a spare ounce of fat on your bones... *sigh*
I wear size 12 right now, which I believe corresponds to 42 (they are using the same size system in Germany as in Poland, aren't they?) - but I am only about 5,2 feet tall and have very small bones, so I could safely lose at least 10 kg and still not be too thin for my height... lol. The ideal would be losing 15... not that I delude myself it's ever going to happen.:P But I did wear size 4 (34) only three years ago, when I had some physically demanding jobs (cleaning houses, running around a retail store all day picking up merchandise etc.). I hated those jobs with a passion, but Lord, did I look good!... *wistful sigh*
Well... I guess everything comes at a price. If you sit comfortably at a desk most of the time, your butt WILL get bigger, no matter what. LOL. So if that's the inevitable consequence of my internet addiction, I think my only option is to get used to it. I will NEVER quit LJ and LOTR slash. Never. Even if I have to say goodbye to some of the nicest pieces of clothing I ever owned.;D
But I wish I could go on a shopping trip to Europe one day, since I think the clothes there are much more aesthetic/tasteful than here. Most of what I see in the US (at least in moderate price range) is some appalingly garish crap with mismatched colors, gilded buttons etc. I like my clothes simple and elegant. I don't need fake pearls or pieces of glass sewn into my collar. *shudder* The eighties are long over, for God's sake!...;P
Anyway... sorry for the long rant, but it seems to be a sensitive topic for me.;D
