So, this weekend I actually managed to do more than sleep in, buy groceries and cook my food, lol. I didn't manage to visit my parents and give my mom her Mother's Day gift, but that's no big deal, because in Poland Mother's Day is on the 26th - and my mom's brain pretty much still lives there, even though she's physically here.:P So she wasn't extremely disappointed or offended that I didn't show up (I did say Happy Mother's Day on the phone, though, just in case ;). Anyway... I probably would have, if not for the fact that Nancy (Namarie120) was in town for the weekend, and that doesn't happen very often. I had a lovely dinner with her, [profile] akashaelfwitch and [profile] jades_tempest at Giordano's last night. Which made me realize the last time I'd done that (gone out to eat and/or socialize) was in December. Wow. Looks like I'm really adapting to the low-budget lifestyle, lol. *rueful headshake*

So yesterday was acupuncture, two massive grocery trips (Aldi, which is about 5 minutes away on foot, for some really cheap essentials, and then a nicer, bigger store in another part of town for the stuff I like :) and the dinner at Giordano's. Today was a Lazy Sunday Morning (TM), followed by the making of a delicious tuna salad (the original plan was to make it last night, but that didn't happen, because I went out) and then, finally, a walk. I'd been wanting to go for a walk for weeks now - but something always managed to prevent it (usually it was either the weather or my own laziness/disorganization, lol). So today I just decided I HAD to go, even though it was rather chilly outside. Or at least, rather chilly for May (I had to wear a fleece-lined jacket, and zip it up too). But it felt really good to move and feel the cool breeze on my face. Must do it more often.:D Even though I'm pretty sure my rubber legs will be killing me tomorrow.;P

Another thing I managed to do this weekend was watch The Hunt for Gollum. I'd been curious about it, but didn't really expect to be blown away - it's a low-budget 'fan tribute' type of film, after all. So I have to say I am quite astonished by the quality of it. I mean, those people really did go an extra mile to make everything as perfect as they possibly could. The costumes, the makeup, the scenery... it was almost like watching deleted scenes from the 'real' LOTR. The guy who played Aragorn wasn't half bad either - he was no Viggo, of course, but he did have a presence about him. As well as rather unsettling eyes - icy-blue and penetrating, really standing out from his gaunt, ragged face. His Aragorn was definitely colder and more 'businesslike' than Viggo's - every inch the grim ranger on a mission.:P But I guess that's what the movie called for, being focused solely on the hunt for Gollum. Btw, believe it or not - I think the Gollum-voice was actually creepier than Andy Serkis. It was brilliant. Gandalf wasn't bad either (again, no Ian, but it's not like anyone could measure up to THAT :P). Even the orcs looked believable (slightly less deformed and repulsive than the ones from WETA, but orcs none-the-less). And I loved the music too. The one thing that didn't impress me too much was Arwen (her ears were too big, LOL) - but she was only there for about a minute, so I'm willing to overlook it.;) All in all, the film is very obviously a labor of love, and I wish it could have been longer than 40 minutes - but considering the fact that all the cast & crew were volunteers, not getting paid for their hard work, it is amazing enough.

Gotta go now, get some sleep before another busy week at work.:/

I'm glad you had a good weekend! Also, I haven't heard anything about The Hunt For Gollum...are they re-enacting parts of Rings? I like your thoughts on it. :)
