1) Thank you, [profile] illuins_lair, for the Glitterati Sunglasses! They are TEH AWESOME!!! The design looks kinda elvish, don't you think?... *tries to imagine various elven royalty in elegant dark sunglasses and starts giggling uncontrollably* ;) <33333

2) My The Road DVD is here already!!! Amazing. It only shipped yesterday, and I didn't expect to see it before the end of the week. Not that I have time to watch all the extras tonight... but there's a long weekend coming up, isn't there? *bounces* With all the overtime I've been doing lately, I almost forgot what a REGULAR weekend feels like - let alone a long one. It shall be greatly cherished.:)

3) I can't seem to make up my mind about the LJ layout these days. I changed it again last week - but I think I'll keep this one for a while.

4) It is HOT. Summer has just descended with a vengeance, and I feel a little disoriented. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE summer. But here in Chicago summers are so short and so far between that you sort of forget what they feel like. You tend to just scratch your head and say, But... really??? Was it THAT hot last year??? LOL. The thing is, it probably was, but the endless months of winter sort of dimmed the memory. Or maybe I'm just getting old.;P

5) My latest culinary invention demands to be commemorated. Here's what I did: I started by sauteing some diced onion in olive oil with some crushed garlic and some grated fresh ginger. Then I threw in some of my favorite spices: cumin, coriander, curry powder and garam masala. Then came the main content: parsnips, cauliflower and pears (I meant to use yellow zucchini squash intead of the pears, but couldn't find it at the store - not in season, I suppose). Now, I think parsnips are a very underappreciated vegetable - they may not look extremely spectacular, but they taste delicious. So anyway - I poured in some vegetable stock and let it all simmer for a while, and then I tossed in a handful of golden raisins, sliced almonds and chopped walnuts. And some shredded apple for good measure. And... wow. India meets Morocco.;) I was generous with the spices, so the end result had a very intense sweet-hot flavor. It was rather high-carb, I'm afraid, and probably not recommended for diabetics - but other than that... perfection. Besides, all the sweetness in this dish came from natural sugars, and it also had some good, natural fats; as well as a hell of a lot of fiber. I think it's for the win. Pretty guiltless dinner-and-dessert in one, lol. Oh, and low-budget, too.:)

Here ends tonight's newsflash. The soulless numbers on the clock are deaf to my pleas and will not slow down their relentless progress, as usual. *sigh* ;)

Hi! I just have time to say very quick, is it ok to watch The Road without breaking apart? My bf said that reading the last few pages of the book basically just ripped his heart out, and seeing Viggo performing this section would absolutely kill him. I pretty much agree. Should we rent it?

Well, I did see it twice without breaking apart (on the big screen, no less!), and I'm not suicidal yet - so I suppose it can be done.;) But yes, Viggo's performance (throughout the movie, not just towards the end) totally rips your heart out. You will probably cry, and feel very gloomy/helpless/desolate for days afterwards. Still, it's totally worth it. Just make sure you don't have to entertain anyone or present a cheerful face to the world right after... lol. And put all your little ones to bed first. This movie is so NOT for children... *shudders*

Heh. It would be fun to cook for you, I think. I usually lack the confidence to impose my cooking "skills" on anyone, but you seem crazy enough to appreciate my weird concoctions.;P

I´d looove to try out your inventative dishes! I´m all for trying out new and different things so I´ll be totally volonteering btw!! Apart from that I love food, it´s also.. I mean.. on another note.. I find cooking incredibly romantic and dead sexxxy *yes, really*, because food is so sensual in itself and the whole act of cooking is much like making love..
..and well..I don´t think I actually ever had something artsy made fo me in this sense. *thuds & salivates*

So yes, basically I´m probably crazy enough. LOL
