blah blah blah
Sep. 3rd, 2010 11:57 pmFirst of all, let me join the flist chorus and request NO reposting of anything from this journal onto Facebook or Twitter. Not that I can even think of a reason why anyone would want to do that... but, you know, just in case. For the record, I don't have a Facebook or a Twitter account and don't intend to get either one anytime soon, so there's no danger of me reposting anything. Whoever knows me from here and has a Facebook... please don't mention "Floating Leaf" over there. This username belongs here only - and perhaps on a few LOTR fanfiction archive sites as well. That's it. If any of my RL acquaintances who traipse around Facebook ever hear of LiveJournal, I don't want them to be able to find me here. So if you know my "real" name, don't mention it here OR on Facebook either. Just a precaution. Maybe I'm deluding myself by thinking it's at all possible to maintain any level of privacy in today's online world... but let me entertain those sweet delusions for just a bit longer, please. LOL.
I took today off (we were having an "early close" before the holiday weekend anyway) and I've been busy Getting Stuff Done. I left the car at the shop around noon, walked back home (not far, about 20 minutes' leisurely stroll), then went down to the basement in search of the damn electric meter, because my latest power bill just happens to be 3x higher than the previous one (!!!). Found the meter and discovered to my regret that it indeed does read as high as they say on the bill. Called customer service and was informed that the previous three bills were based on an "estimated" meter reading as opposed to an actual one - because, yes, the meters are in the basement, and sometimes the electric company guy who comes to take a reading can't access them if there is no one around to open the door. So they send an estimated bill based on the previous one. Which probably explains why the three previous bills were indeed surprisingly low, despite my frequent use of air conditioning throughout the summer (and let's not forget the little electric space heater I had on for a while back in May, after they shut off the radiators and before the weather warmed up). Also, some of the charges recently went up quite a bit. So, no more dirt-cheap electricity for me.:/ Anyway... that unpleasant mystery solved, I rolled up my sleeves and did some cleaning (the place was seriously begging for it, lol). And now I'm beat. It takes about two hours to clean my tiny apartment (mopping floors included) - but apparently that's enough physical activity to exhaust me.:/ I'm glad they haven't finished fixing the car and called me to come get it today - I wouldn't have had the energy. *falls flat on face*

Date: 2010-09-09 02:55 am (UTC)LJ has introduced some new option where you can automatically repost things from here to Facebook or Twitter if you have an account over there. I'm not sure if you can only repost your own entries/comments or other people's too... but everyone on my flist has been pretty pissed off about it and warning everyone else NOT to do it.:P I think most people who have Facebook want to keep it separate from LJ... I got rid of Facebook for that very reason - I wanted to avoid any accidental FB/LJ crossover, LOL.
fluffs u up with warmth-of-heart to keep you steady for the insane winter
Don't mention the evil W-word yet!... it's nice and warm right now, we wantsss it to stay that way, preciousss... let us remain in denial about what's coming for a little while longer, savvy?...;P
