I mean... seriously, now? :/

So, I called in sick on Tuesday, and I said I was down with a bad cold. That's what I usually say when I have to call in sick on the first workday after a weekend. It's a likely scenario, especially during the winter, and therefore believable. More believable than a one-day sickness, anyway (even if that's the inconvenient truth in my case). So I said I'd had this cold since Saturday, and was still recovering from it. My colds usually last 3-4 days, so this explanation made perfect sense, and my boss didn't sound like she had a problem with it. So, everything seemed fine.
Except... guess what I'm coming down with right now.:/
Yeah. The irony of it. I've been feeling crappy since last night - weak and exhausted and dizzy, and my throat is way too dry for comfort. Also, my eyes look glassy, and I don't have much of an apetite (I only ate twice today, which, for me, is really shocking). I just keep popping Halls candy and drinking mug after mug of piping hot tea with plenty of honey - and still, there's a Sahara in my mouth.:/ I took three naps this morning/afternoon. And still, I had to put my ass in gear and take a ride downtown, because, you know, jury duty on Monday.:/ So I needed to locate the courthouse and make sure I am going to be able to find my way there without getting lost. I always do this when I have to be somewhere at a certain time and am not familiar with the location - I go beforehand for a little scouting trip, lol. It saves me a lot of stress, because I can get very distracted and completely lose my sense of direction when I'm in a hurry. So anyway... it's freezing cold outside, and I have a sore throat, and the last thing I wanted was to be traipsing around the city - but what choice did I have?... *sigh* It's not like you can call in sick to the courthouse.:/ They can probably dismiss you if you show up looking half-dead - but show up you must. And knowing my luck, I probably don't look half as bad as I feel - so I will just have to grit my teeth and sit through it.:/ Lovely.:[
What is it with the crappy timing of everything happening in my life these days?... It's almost like bad karma or something.:/
Damn, I'm falling on my face. I think I'll just go to bed.:|

*sends aspirin to you for getting better*

I didn't call in sick on an excuse. I called in sick because I was feeling like complete, utter crap - just not for the reason I gave. The real reason was actually more likely to sound like an excuse. Strangely enough, it is considered perfectly understandable that people can feel like shit when they have a cold - but not when they get their period. At least that seems to be the case at my workplace. *sigh*
While to me, in all truth and honesty, it is the other way around. Which means that if I had to choose, I'd much rather be at work with a bad cold than on the worst day of my period. And, unfortunately, sometimes I do have to choose - due to the highly limited number of sick days available.:/
