Saw the HoV trailer. OMG!!! squeee!!! etc.etc.etc. I am going to LOVE this movie. I KNOW it!!! But WHY, OH WHY do I have to wait till September to see it??? If they can show it at Cannes NOW, why cannot they show it over here? It's not fair. As if having to wait half a year for Alatriste wasn't enough... *pouts*

I know how you're feeling. I grew up in a very tiny town with one cinema, open only on weekends - and they hardly ever played anything other than the most commercial stuff. Also, we had to wait weeks or months before any new movie even got there...
But maybe you'll be able to make a trip to a city to see it?

No cities near here, really! And the bigger cinema we used to go to just closed, for some insane reason. :-( I shall see what happens, but it's not looking good. Still. Patience is a virtue, right?

So you see, there are some drawbacks to living in the wilderness!:P
But I do understand you, really - there is a part of me that would be happiest in a tiny hut by a forest or a lake, away from all the noise and pollution of humanity, lol. But then there's another part that wants an apartment in a big city, close to all the cultural events...

Anyway... patience definitely is a virtue, and I think I'm one of the most patient people on the face of the planet... unless it has to do with satisfying my basic needs (like Viggo, for example ;P). So in this case, I'm afraid, I am going to fidget just a little. :D

True. :P But I wouldn't change it for the world. Here's a quote for you...

Legend says that a fey exiled from faerie will wither and fade, die. That's both true and untrue...most fey can manage in a city; they might not be happy, but they can survive. But part of them does wither, that part that knows that not all the butterflies you see are actually butterflies. That part that has seen the night sky filled with a rushing of wings like a hurricane wind, wings of flesh and scale to make humans whisper of dragons and demons; that part that has seen the sidhe ride by on horses made of starlight and dreams. That part begins to die.

It's from A Caress of Twilight by Laurell K Hamilton. Granted, I'm not one of the fey, but. :) I can't live in a city. I can't even live in a town. I can feel the people, pressing in on all sides, stifling me, and I'm screaming and I can't breathe, can't breathe and it hurts... But I accept that. :)

But yes, Viggo is a basic need ;P and I need! :D

That's a beautiful quote you gave me (I have read something by Laurell Hamilton, but not this). And of course, if you feel like that, there's no reason to torture yourself. After all, everything you want to know about civilisation can be accessed through the internet.;P Well... almost everything. Anyway, I also believe that encounters with other people are far more meaningful if they are not accidental, but carefully planned for, looked forward to and cherished. In other words, I'd much rather see just one or two good friends occasionally than go to a noisy party filled with strangers. I have a bit of an anti-crowd fobia too - I avoid rock concerts, for example, even though I love listening to some rock/alternative bands. I value my privacy a lot and spend plenty of time by myself - and that's how I like it. Which is one of the reasons why I think that me and Viggo would get on really well together...:D He could whisk me away to some godforsaken hole and I wouldn't mind one bit.;) (as long as I had my DSL :D :D :D)
OK, sorry for this ramble. You seem to inspire my tendencies towards endless digressing without a clearly defined subject matter to begin with.;) (oh God, what a sentence!... lol) But you said you like me being talkative - so here's what you get.:P

Have you read Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake series then? It's not as good as it used to be, in my opinion. I still haven't got the latest one. But I love the Merry Gentry series.

I know, thank goodness for the internet! It's a godsend, in so many ways. It's got lj, porn, friends, amazon...what more could a girl ask for? ;P

I would definitely rather have a handful of close friends that I can be completely honest, open and myself with. Even if I don't always talk to them, I know they're there, as I am for them. It means so much more. I'm definitely not a party girl, but that's okay. Ooh, being whisked away by Viggo...sounds pretty good! ;D

And it wasn't a ramble. *hugs* Random digression is good. :)

I have read two first books of the Anita Blake series, on my sister's recommendation.;) They are a quick and funny read, but not exactly my sort of thing. I find the style too... American, somehow (I do live in the USA, but only since 2002, and I still feel like a stranger here - for many reasons...). I much prefer Anne Rice... and recently, Tanith Lee (also thanks to my sister - she got me into the whole gothic thing, lol).

Random digression is good. :)

You will be getting more of it from me, that's for sure.;P

I used to adore Anne Rice. I loved Louis and Lestat. Madly. But then I started to hate her books. I've never felt that way before. They made me furious and upset and I couldn't stand it. I threw most of them out in the end and I'm sorry it ended that way. I can see why you think of the Anita Blake books as very American. I think it's her style, in part.

As for Tanith Lee, I've always wanted to read her books but never have. I must start looking for some.

And yay! I look forward to it!

OMG! Louis and Lestat!!! They were my first slash OTP, before I even knew that such a term existed.;) I even wrote some porn about them - but I never posted it anywhere, because Anne Rice officially forbids fanfiction and I didn't want to get into any sort of legal trouble.:/

And yeah, the latest books are just... weird. I no longer recognize Lestat as the character I fell in love with. So my Anne Rice fling is basically over too... but I'll always have fond memories.;P

Louis and Lestat were my first slash love too. :D They are perfect together. I love them. I even had two cats called Louis and Lestat. ;D

Yeah, she's funny about that. *sigh*

I stopped reading around the time of Merrick. I was crushed. I identified with Louis but plain adored Lestat. I like the movie too.

Pleasant memories. :D

Wow, vampiric cats!...:D Were they black and golden, respectively? ;P

I identified with Louis but plain adored Lestat.

Holy crap. We are too alike for our own good.:D

And the movie... YEAH.:P The only part where Tom Cruise showed he really can act, lol. One of the gems of my DVD collection...

Louis was black with green eyes. Lestat was pale ginger, closest I could get to blonde, and he had blue eyes. Perfect. :D They would curl up together. They were so adorable.

I like it! :D Tom Cruise was definitely great in it too. Very Lestat. I should watch that again soon.

*hugs*
