floatingleaf: (perfect murder 3)

I saw Brokeback Mountain yesterday. And I am very happy to announce that the gushing reviews were not an exaggeration. It is indeed a great movie: real, raw and romantic without being too sappy. As well as very honest about both the ugliness AND the beauty of living in the proverbial middle of nowhere... of being different... of being alone. It has an unforgettable atmosphere. And the actors are very convincing, making the story totally believable. So believable it's actually disturbing, because it hurts to think how many stories like this one REALLY took place. And that was the whole point of making this movie, I guess...

But of course I wouldn't be me if I didn't get lost on my way to the theatre (as well as on my way back) and miss the actual showtime I was aiming for - as a result of which I came back home past 1 a.m. and slept about 3-4 hours. So no more rambling tonight, as I am currently falling on my face.;)

Just one little happy announcement: apart from hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] akashaelfwitch on a pretty regular basis of late (mainly in bookstores... LOL), I am also going to see [livejournal.com profile] namarie120 this coming Thursday. Squeee!!! Anyone else up for coming to Chicago to meet up with me? ;) *looks around* Just don't forget to bundle up like an Eskimo... the famous Windy City winter is in full swing.:/

I am coming home to Chicago on Friday (staying with my friends in Arlington Heights before going to see family in Lisle) and let's describe how UNEXCITED I am to be going home to freeze my ass off. :P Gah. I am shivering already!

Geeez!!! Arlington Heights is like, 5 minutes' WALK from where I live! LOL I am in Mount Prospect. But on Saturday morning I have to go to my parents' house in Huntley (waaay to the northwest) to spend Christmas with them.:( How long are you staying? Is it even possible to see you on Friday night? (if only to say hello and goodbye, LOL) Or the Monday after Christmas, maybe? I wish I could skip the family Christmas thing entirely... but they would disown me, LOL. And Christmas Eve (Saturday) is the biggest thing really for Polish families, so no way can I not turn up for that. *sigh*

Wow, that's great! Even if my family doesn't let me out on Monday, we'll still have Tuesday then.:) I am working on Tuesday, but it's also in the same area where I live, so I could see you in the evening or even during my lunch break.:)

Talk to you soon!:D
