Snagged from [personal profile] gairid:

You were born during a First Quarter moon

This phase occurs in the middle of the moon's waning phases, after the full moon and before the new moon.

- what it says about you -

You like to make up your own mind. You may find it hard to relate to mainstream opinions on issues, and you definitely don't always like what's popular. You can work out solutions and give birth to big ideas when left to yourself, and other people will be impressed with your conclusions even if they're not sure how you arrived at them.

What phase was the moon at on your birthday? Find out at Spacefem.com

Again, surprisingly accurate. Maybe except for those big ideas that other people are impressed with... LOL.

We had our annual reviews at work, and the boss was very pleased with me. To the extent of saying that I had "exceeded expectations" in one of the reviewed categories ("adaptability/change management", I think, or something similarly phrased). We talked about my strengths and weaknesses as an employee, and I said that I often tend to avoid situations which make me feel challenged. This seemed to surprise her, and she stated with conviction that she doesn't perceive me that way at all. Whereupon it was my turn to be surprised.:) She suggested this might have been a thing of the past, and that my perception of myself might not have caught up with the improvements I have made. Very interesting, to say the least. Of course, I still think I'm a coward - but it's nice to know that at least some people disagree.:P

Oh, and btw, there wasn't any talk about compensation, because at this point they still don't know if we will have any raises this year.:/ Last year we had them in July, so hopefully they'll know by then. Right now, my paycheck is actually slightly lower that last year, because the Illinois state tax went up.:/

However, our team has a 97% success rate on the aforementioned project where the top management wanted 90% - and they are buying us lunch tomorrow. I am no longer involved in the project itself, since I'm working on other stuff these days - but I still qualify for free lunch as part of the team.:) They are ordering in from some new cool sandwich place with organic ingredients etc. So yeah, the money sucks... but at least we get plenty of appreciation.;)

And that is all my momentous news for tonight. One of these days I will make a post about something OTHER than the tedium of daily trials and tribulations, I promise. *rueful sigh*

It has always amazed me how others perceive me versus how I perceive myself. I suspect many other people experience this as well. Congratulations on your excellent review! Bask in the glow while you can. :D

We have practically no control over how other people see us - which sounds pretty scary, but can sometimes lead to pleasant surprises as well.;)

Bask in the glow while you can. :D

The economic situation being what it is, the "glow" is all I've got to keep me going anyway...:P

Sometimes mirrors show us untold things. Perhaps, more accurately those changes are firstly visable to those on the other side of it. Without the smudges we usually tend to grace our own reflection with.
We judge ourself quite hard, y'know.

True. But then again, we know things about ourselves that other people don't know; we tend to "show our good side" to others, in order to impress them, and we don't necessarily boast of all our daily failures. So the fact that someone else sees us in a positive light is no proof of improvement, just by itself. It simply means we are good at conforming to other people's expectations.;)

I'm not sure about my moon meme: You want to leave an impression on people and make your mark on the world. When you love an idea, you'll work hard for it, sometimes even dropping whatever it is you're doing to go on to the next new great thing that's captured your imagination. The more freedom you have to chose what you're doing, the busier you'll be.

BUT, not important. What's important is congratulations! That's brilliant. I do find it very interesting how I see myself versus how others see me, but it's great that she thinks so highly of you. And it's always nice to be appreciated. :)

*hugs*

PS - you post about whatever you want/need to post about. :)

Hmmm... you've definitely left an impression and made a mark on the LOTR fandom with your lovely fics - and now you are dropping everything to maintain [Bad username or unknown identity: stars_in_ shadow].;)

And it's always nice to be appreciated. :)

Yes it is. Even if you're not sure you actually deserve it.;)

*hugs back*
