I saw a fantabulous movie yesterday - one I probably wouldn't even have heard about, if not for an enthusiastic post by
crimsonsenya: Breakfast on Pluto. So thank you, my friend - it was an unforgettable experience.;)
It's a movie by Neil Jordan, and I seriously recommend it to anyone who has seen and loved The Crying Game. It's absolutely hilarious, but also very touching - Neil Jordan has a way of teaching tolerance and simple human understanding while he's making you almost pee in your pants.;) Cillian Murphy, playing the protagonist, is simply wonderful - and so are Stephen Rea (who, unfortunately, has little more than an episode) and Liam Neeson. It's a very Irish film, by the way - which equals quite meaningful, imho, despite all the silliness - as well as very, very gay.:P It made me truly happy. *beams* And I just can't resist quoting my favorite exchange, which immediately made me think of
chaosmanor's fic Achy Breaky Heart:
Cillian (flushed and stammering): But... I'm not a girl.
Stephen Rea (calm and unperturbed): Well, I knew that, princess.
Just... guhhh. *heart flutters* And by the way, I think Orlando would be just as great for that gorgeous cross-dressing part. *smirks*

Date: 2006-01-15 10:15 pm (UTC)Unfortunately, that may be the case. From what I know, it's only playing in one or two theaters in Chicago, and just for a few weeks. I was lucky to know about it beforehand - if I hadn't been on the lookout for it, I would have missed it. So thanks again! :)
