First of all, I would like to apologize to my kind and gracious flist for the previous post. It was a colossal whinge for no reason. I must have had one of my rare (or so I like to think... lol) "blonde moments" to so utterly forget that alcohol is NOT a lonely person's best friend. And that it's NOT universally bound to make you feel better. In fact, it only enhances your current emotional state - so if you're happy, it might make you happier, but if you're down... beware. So what I did was just plain stupid. What's more, I completed the disaster by watching Cronenberg's Spider (a gloomy and disturbing movie if I ever saw one). A total masochist feast... lol. And not surprisingly at all, I had a nasty nightmare afterwards. Just what I deserved. *shakes head*

And yesterday I was invited for a special birthday dinner by my parents & sister, as well as showered with gifts and generally treated like a queen.;) My father presented me with a lovely portrait of my humble self (*snort*), painted from one of the best photographs I had (taken when I was still young and pretty... lol). I wish I could post a pic of it here, but I don't have a camera, and my scanner doesn't work anyway.:/ Still, it does wonders for my self-esteem at the moment.;) So, it was generally a lovely evening... until the moment when my mother asked about my job, and I just couldn't force a happy lie. So I told her the truth. And good heavens, is she predictable. First her face went all white, and she whispered "oh my God" in a tone that most other people would use only if they were told that someone had died. Then she immediately suggested that I should move back to live with them, so as not to have to pay rent. Oh yeah, sure. Like I would ever find decent work out there in the middle of effing nowhere (not to mention the sad detail that having to interact with her every day is the shortest way to the pits of bleak depression for me; and I'm not trying to be mean here, just stating a proven fact). With no DSL to boot. *rolls eyes* Fortunately for me, no one else backed up the proposition.;) Nevertheless, I managed to tense up enough during this fruitful discussion not to get much sleep at all last night... so I'm not in my top form at the moment. But I survived... LOL.

And today my Perceval Press package arrived.:) Thank you once again, [livejournal.com profile] namarie120 - you absolutely rock, and that's a fact.;) And while I'm at it, let me congratulate you for your [livejournal.com profile] slashy_oscars awards. I am happy to see you get some well-deserved recognition. Same goes for [livejournal.com profile] rainweaver13, whom I had nominated in a few categories. Breathing Room is one of my favorite stories ever, and it's good to know other people appreciate it too. As for those who I voted for, but who unfortunately didn't win... oh well. Maybe next time. I love you anyway.;)

OK. That's it for now. I really have to go to bed (I'm falling on my face, and I have a dental appointment early in the morning). I would kill for 6+ hours of healthy, undisturbed sleep... lol. *sigh*

Thanks for the congrats, sweetie. And I'm SO glad you liked Breathing Room. I look at it now and wonder how I wrote it. I swear it wrote itself.

*hug*

I'm glad it got there, now you have some wonderful poems and images to enjoy as a belated birthday gift.

Thanks for the congratulations, I get so much from everyone I beta for that I feel like I'm sharing the award with them all. And I absolutely agree with you about Breathing Room, and everything Rain writes for that matter - I voted for everything she was nominated for! She absolutely deserved Best Debut.
