floatingleaf: (happy orliboy)

I have a friend who has recently been to Argentina. I went to see her yesterday, and she served me some mate. Holy hell. The thing tastes like muddy water with some decomposing grass in it. No wonder Viggo likes it, being the weirdo that he is.;P

Disturbingly enough, seems like that's all I have to say tonight. *shrugs and wanders off to get ready for bed*

Maté needs vast amounts of sugar.

I went to Argentina two years ago, acquired a taste for maté, and now consume it with enthusiasm.

Ha. My friend said you're not supposed to add sugar. But even vast amounts of sugar probably wouldn't save the vile concoction for me.;)

The sugar is a regional addition. sugar is added to maté in Buenos Airies and further north. South of BA, no sugar. And if the person you're staying with grew up in the south and moved to BA, they'd still not have sugar.

I like maté. I loathe most herbal teas. *shrug* Who knows why?

of course, it could be the caffiene in maté that makes it worth drinking.

O yeah, mate tastes very *healthy*:) Give me a good strong black tea anytime. All this herbal stuff is not for me!

I bought maté some time ago, and it tastes indeed very "grassy". I prefer rooibos and chamomille of all the herbal stuff. :)

What is wrong with our Floatingleaf? Legolas won't play with her now if she doesn't like his tea! ;P ;)
