I was praised by my supervisor today. She had been checking my work for the last week, pointing out errors - and today the only one she had to mention was actually her own error, not mine. She thought I had skipped a certain document while scanning - while in fact there were two identical copies in the file (though they looked different at a first glance). She didn't actually notice they were identical - but I did. She seemed impressed.:)

Yeah, you have to be an absolute anal freak to perform well at a job like that. And I am.;D

So, I think there is actually a chance I might stay there for longer than three months. In fact, there is another woman there from the same agency as me, also on temporary status, who has already been working there a year. And she told me that the agency "kept her busy" for the previous two years as well.

That means that even if they don't hire me permanently, the agency is likely to find me another similar job pretty soon after this assignment is over. Which is a comforting thought, of course. Especially that if you keep working for the same agency for many months, you finally earn certain benefits. Like a paid vacation... or health insurance. I have none at the moment, and I could really use a chiropractic (or a good massage... lol). My spine is seriously fucked from sitting at a desk most of the time...

Anyway... change of topic. This meme has been all over my flist, and I couldn't resist the temptation to join in.:)

001. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
002. I will respond by asking you five questions of a very intimate and creepily personal nature. Or not so creepy/personal.
003. You WILL update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
004. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post.
005. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

I have been asked some interesting questions by [livejournal.com profile] carynita (who used to be Melacita not so long ago :D).

1) Where did you grow up and when did you move to the Chicago area?

Okay. That one's easy.;) I grew up in a small, boring town in the southern part of Poland. But I identify to a much larger extent with the magical city of Krakow, where I studied and lived for over ten years (I feel like my life didn't actually start until I got there... lol).

I moved to the United States in May 2002. I still miss Krakow like all hell - but life is life and here I am. It's really a stereotypical Eastern European immigrant story (no job, no money, no perspectives, and most of your family is already abroad anyway - so sooner or later you pack up your meager belongings and follow... *shrugs and pretends to be really tough and unaffected about it, but fails again*)

2) A/L or V/O? Why?

I read both, but I only seem able to write A/L. They are closer to my heart, somehow, and more inspiring.

Why? Probably because I'm a fantasy whore.;D The farther from the likeness of my everyday reality, the better. Even with V/O, I most greedily devour the totally otherwordly fantasy AU's. Give me elves, kings, warriors, wizards and fairies any day.:P

3) Who is someone in fandom you really admire or wish you had the nerve to friend, if any?

Hmmm. I admire many people, but if I want to friend someone, I usually just do it (or ask them if they don't mind - depending on how eager they seem to add others to their friends' list).

My personal LJ-idol is [livejournal.com profile] romi, but she has been on my flist for so long I don't actually remember how and when she got there.:) And I don't think it matters anymore.

4) What is the worst tourist attraction you have ever visited?

The worst? Lenin's Mausoleum in Moscow, probably.:P

5) Name one thing you wish you were good at that you are not.

Inventing plotlines for fanfic!!! I SOOO want to write it hurts, but somehow my inspiration inevitably dries up after a few paragraphs. That's why I have only so far produced a bunch of drabbles.:(

Ooofff... that was a long post - even for me. So long it made me hungry... lol. So I'm off to have some supper - and probably read some bedtime slash.;P

Hey!!!:)

I am always quiet on the lists. LJ is my chosen medium of personal expression... lol.

I sent you an email sometime last week, but you probably didn't get it. Anyway - what are you up to? any special plans for Easter???

Your a good worker and a wonderful human being (of course I may be biased when I say that...*g*)

You are quite possibly biased.;) After all, most people don't know my "fun side" as well as you do.:P

Okay. Here you go:

1) What's your favorite color? (silly, I know - but I think that the favorite color says a lot about one's personality)

2) If you could choose one place to spend the rest of your life in - where would that be?

3) Have you ever had a crush/intense fascination with a woman? Not necessarily of erotic nature - just someone you greatly admired, or someone that made you wonder if you could possibly be bisexual?... (sort of like Viggo makes ME wonder now... LOL)

4) Name a book or a movie that influenced you most (apart from LOTR, since I figure this would be the obvious answer :D).

5) Who is the next most handsome man in the world after Viggo? (and don't say Orlando!... LOL)

>>Dark green, like a forest green (emerald green).

2) If you could choose one place to spend the rest of your life in - where would that be?

>>I love the ocean, so perhaps a beach house so that the sound of the waves crashing against the shore would be my welcome call every morning.

3) Have you ever had a crush/intense fascination with a woman? Not necessarily of erotic nature - just someone you greatly admired, or someone that made you wonder if you could possibly be bisexual?... (sort of like Viggo makes ME wonder now... LOL)

>>I find Taylor Cole very beautiful (she was recently on Supernatural). I had always admired Princess Di and Kate Winslet (you could say I am very gay for her...LOL). There are women in my real life whom I admire and find facinating...anyone (real life or celeb) who would make me think if I were bisexual? Hmm yes..does Kate Winslet count? LOL

4) Name a book or a movie that influenced you most (apart from LOTR, since I figure this would be the obvious answer :D).

>>Hmm perhaps tt would be easier for me to name an author. Edgar Allan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, and early Anne Rice have influenced my way of writing. Also Margaret Weis and Tracey Hickman for their beautiful fantasy series, Dragonlance.

5) Who is the next most handsome man in the world after Viggo? (and don't say Orlando!... LOL)

>>Damn! Those are my first choices (Vig/Orli) LOL!! You know me too well...hmmm *puts thinking cap on*
I know!! Hands down: Leonardo Dicaprio.

England??? When are you going to England? And what will you do there? *is very curious*

And why did you remove the "Happy Eater" post already??? I saw it last morning before leaving for work, and it put a big smile on my face... but when I got back home, it was gone! *wonders how many of your posts she never even got a chance to see before they disappeared*

Bad Romi!!! ;D *loves you anyway*

Congratulations on your success at work! No surprise, but hopefully it will lead to longer or even permanent positions in the future.

Oh, and interview me!

All right. Take a seat and make yourself comfortable.;) Here's the deal:

1) Why did you choose "namarie" as your LJ identity? Why not some other Elvish word? :P

2) What is your job? and is it something you like to do?

3) Does anyone outside of LJ and Yahoo!Groups know about your fascination with slash?

4) What is your favorite pastime - other than reading and writing? ;)

5) Have you ever travelled outside of the US - and if so, what place did you like best?

Not too creative, I know, but it's a start.:D

1) Why did you choose "namarie" as your LJ identity? Why not some other Elvish word? :P

I've been a Tolkien geek since I was 12 or 13 and read the trilogy for the first time. Namarie is a combination of my first and middle names, and when I read it the first time as a pre-teen, I was sure it was my name in Elvish! So when I discovered Yahoo groups and LJ a few years ago, and had to come up with a screen name, it was a natural choice. Someone else had already claimed the name by itself, so I added the 120 which (more proof of my geekiness) is the year in the Fourth Age that Aragorn dies. (*sigh*)

2) What is your job? and is it something you like to do?

I am a senior project manager in the IT department of a large financial services company. I manage a group of other project managers and support personnel and, depending on the projects we're working on, travel a fair amount to our various offices and vendors. I enjoy the work itself, though the corporate politics set my teeth on edge (I am so *not* a game player that way!)

3) Does anyone outside of LJ and Yahoo!Groups know about your fascination with slash?

God, I hope not! Actually, my husband knows, though he's not very thrilled by it, and I think my children (who are fortunately both "adult" - 19 and 20) know as well, though they may not have actually read anything I've written the way my husband has. Actually my daughter thinks it's pretty cool that I have an LJ and write fanfic, and I know she's written some (very mild) anime and video-game based slash herself, so she wouldn't be shocked, except maybe at how explicit I can get (because of course children can never imagine their parents as sexual beings!)

4) What is your favorite pastime - other than reading and writing? ;)

You mean there is anything else? *g* Actually, I love to travel and explore new places, and I enjoy cooking and baking. I used to do a lot of crafts and needlepoint at one time, but that's before I discovered the Internet...

5) Have you ever travelled outside of the US - and if so, what place did you like best?

Do Canada and Mexico count? I've been to both several times, but outside North America, my husband and I went to Ireland and England on our honeymoon, and I spent a week in Paris several years ago for a conference - I was able to bring my family along to so we could spend a few extra days sightseeing. I loved both, but if I had to pick one I'd say Paris - everything about it was a magical experience.
