Hello. It's me again. I have decided to attempt an update. Still not feeling like I have anything important to say... but that might never change, so let me try and say something unimportant instead.

I simply stopped receiving the DVD's. I suppose one of my neighbors must have been taking them (we have ridiculously small mailboxes, so all non-standard envelopes are simply left lying about on the floor). Which is really annoying, since ordering online is pretty much the only way to see some rare independent and/or foreign films (i.e., the main kind I am interested in watching at all). So, whoever has been hoping to get free entertainment at my expense for the last few weeks, was probably direly disappointed with my movie choices (obscure gay flicks from Denmark or Israel, LOL). Though, on second thoughts, if they were disappointed indeed, they would probably have stopped stealing the DVD's at some point. *sigh* Still, I find I don't care much if I happen to have a gay neighbor, since they are also a thief. I hope they haven't stolen anything else so far... but I can't help wondering, since I had also subscribed to a quarterly yaoi comic series from Drama Queen, and have yet to see the second issue (the first one was already out at the time of last year's Yaoi Con in San Francisco). Not to mention I don't appreciate the invasion of privacy that the disappearance of such items obviously implies. And I don't even know which of my neighbors I should avoid due to their having a serious TMI problem with me as a result.:/

Having no new movies to watch has left me feeling kind of bereft, but also gave me the rare opportunity to 'go back to the roots' and see some of the old favorites. Starting with LOTR... lol. I just watched all three extended editions over the past two weekends; in full, mind you - by which I mean no skipping orc or hobbit scenes.;) It just didn't seem right to use fast-forward at all, for some reason. And that made me feel like I was watching the movies for the first time. Honestly, I didn't expect to be so taken with them any more. I didn't expect to cry over so many scenes, lol. But somehow, I was very powerfully reminded why I am in this fandom, and why I intend to stay in it, no matter what. At the same time, I am in the tight grip of nostalgia for those good old times when this fandom was (or seemed to be) a safe, happy, peaceful and hospitable place. Like a party in Hobbiton, lol. Those times are no more. I came late to the party, and it was over as soon as I really started having fun, it seems. So painfully typical of my life in general. *sigh*

On a more positive note (in a way, at least), the movies have induced a weirdly amusing dream, in which my grandmother (who died nearly 20 years ago) comes up to me and asks if I happen to know a guy named Sauron (sic!). Why?... Because he just came to the door and left this for me. And she gives me a big black leather case (like an old-fashioned doctor's bag). Unfortunately, I woke up before finding out what was in it. A Palantir, perhaps?... Who knows, maybe I was chosen to replace Saruman. A dark witch of terrible power, or something to that effect. All shall love me and despair, LOLOLOL.

And that is all the deep insight I feel privileged to share tonight. *snort*

that is just snivelly that someone has been walking with your stuff. yuck.

i have never watched all of the extended editions, still. i think that sounds like a wonderful prescription. :)

*BOGGLES* at your dream. i would love to see that interpreted! i'm so interested in dreams, and it seems to me there is a sadly lacking amount of info out there. i guess it's difficult given the infinite varieties of dreams possible, but it all seems too categorized and neat to me.

Seriously?... Where have you been hiding?...LOL

Oh yes. Dreams are a fascinating subject. I've had so many I wish I could have remembered and/or understood better. Sometimes it feels like there's a whole different world inside your brain you're not even aware of. I hear music in dreams sometimes, see stunningly beautiful landscapes, experience emotions I have no words for in any language, etc. I wish there was a way to record all this, so it doesn't fade away into oblivion... *sigh*

I'm sorry to hear that. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed so everything goes well. *hugs*
