Finally bought Hidalgo (of course I did, why wouldn't I? :)). My roommate doubled up with laughter when she saw me cradling the DVD lovingly in my arms.;) She thought the movie was quite bad. Oh well... she should have seen "Prison. Or Boiling Point. Or.. whatever. What does it matter if it's good or bad anyway? Just look at HIM. Just listen to that raspy voice. What else do you need to spend two hours in a blissful, lust-filled daze?:P Some people just don't appreciate the gorgeousness of a true blue-eyed hero...;)))

Yeah, I do admit that Viggo sends my brain on vacation. And I couldn't care less. It may never come back... just so I'm perfectly happy and delighted while the abovementioned hero does the most unbelievable stunts, effortlessly defeats five opponents at the same time or communicates telepathically with his horse. Or whatever. Still, the movie isn't quite as brainless as it could have been (given that it's a standard Hollywood action/adventure flick). For one, Frank doesn't elope with the Sheikh's daughter (they don't even kiss, which sort of comes as a surprise ;)). And I really liked the "misunderstanding" with the flag. If he'd been brandishing the "real" USA flag at the end, I would have felt mildly disgusted, to say the least. And I am truly thankful that he wasn't (even though some people still managed to interpret the movie like they did, which I find positively sickening). And... I absolutely LOVED his near-death experience in the desert: the visions, the chanting... It was so surreal, so poetic... so Viggo. And I don't give a damn if some people say he cannot sing.....
