just feeling talkative for some reason :)
Jul. 3rd, 2006 09:51 pmIt was so blissfully quiet at work today (yes, I am one of the very few US residents who had to go to work during the extended 'holiday weekend'...), with half of our department gone and no-one sitting behind me facing my computer screen... that I grew bold and actually accessed my flist.:) For the first time since I started working there (I do check email occasionally, mostly during breaks, just to see if there is anything exciting... but usually there isn't enough time to really read anything before someone comes up behind me, peering at my screen). And it just made the day SO much better... lol. I didn't even need my CD player... or coffee, for that matter. I was alert enough from the frequent little peeks I took at a wonderful new V/O story posted recently at
adorf_ckable (Pole Position by
obselizabeth).:D Yes, playing catch-up again... and currently I am only five days behind, yay (this is a sarcastic remark, btw; still, the fact remains that five days is better than a week).
And then I came back home and did something stupid. Signed up for the crazy Blockbuster plan that consists of ordering movies online and having them delivered by mail. Dear God, when will I find the time to actually watch those movies???... *tears hair out in frustration* I know there is no return deadline, but still... you have to actually order more than three DVDs a month for it to make any sense, since there is a monthly fee. Of course I am currently on 'free trial' - I would have never even thought about it otherwise - but still... I might well forget to cancel on time (which is exactly what they're counting on... lol). I basically did it to make them shut up, because they just wouldn't stop emailing me with the offer about five times a week. Am I a victim of the consumer culture?... *snort*
OK. Enough of the pointless babble. Time to be a good girl and do my exercise (especially as I skipped it yesterday, because - wonder of wonders - I actually did some socializing :P)... then watch another movie I rented because they sent me a coupon for 99 cents. *rolls eyes* What is it with getting things just because they're cheap or free, not because you need them? I think it might be a psychological problem concerning people who never had too much money... LOL. But enough. They say time is money as well, and I seem to be wasting it spectacularly at the moment...:D
