long-winded update
Jul. 11th, 2006 09:40 pmNews, news, news today. I was actually interviewed for a permanent position within the company I'm working for as a temp. Some time ago the ladies from our department suggested I leave my resume with human resources, just in case there is an opening somewhere. I didn't really believe they might have something I would be qualified for, apart from data entry, which doesn't have any permanent positions open - but I followed the advice nonetheless, so that it wouldn't seem like I didn't appreciate it. And then thought no more about it. So imagine my shock when my supervisor took me aside yesterday and, instead of thanking me for my good work and sending me home (which I totally expected, since I have been there over three months already), informed me that I have an interview with a manager from another department. Even more surprisingly, the job actually sounds like something I might be comfortable with (mainly paperwork, but less boring than what I'm doing now). And I have a feeling that the lady I talked to wants to hire me. I still have to talk to another supervisor before they make the final decision, but I hope they will let me know by the end of the week (they need someone for that position ASAP).
My first reaction, I will admit, was sort of ambivalent, since I almost looked forward to a few weeks of respite before starting another job... but obviously, I am not in a position to pick and choose just because I'm a lazy ass.;) So if they hire me, I shall be a good girl and get used to the thought of not going on vacation until next summer. Which of course means no Toronto this September (not that I really believed I would be able to go, but still...). Another thing I am not too happy about is having to get up at 6:30, since I would start at 8 a.m. Not a huge difference from 8:30, but still... I would actually need to find myself in bed a long while before midnight to make this work. *sigh* I am sooo not a morning person... LOL. And they wouldn't even pay me much more than I'm getting now. Except I would have benefits. And I really could use some health insurance right now. I don't remember when I was last properly examined by a doctor of any kind (unless you count evil dentists who just wanted to rip off as much of my money as possible... *sigh*).
So... quite a mundane post this time. Actually, I had a few other things to say, but this sort of threw me off the track. I meant to make a post last weekend, but somehow got too busy organizing stuff on my laptop, fighting my way through tons of email and trying to figure out how to make an MP3 disk... (which nearly crashed my system, and that was exactly why I decided to have a good look through all the files on my hard drive and put them in some order before I back them up, just in case something like that happens again...;).
Anyway... what I meant to say was that I had been dragged to the premiere of POTC on Friday by the overenthusiastic
akashaelfwitch.:P Not that I wouldn't have gone to see the movie - but where Hollywood box office hits are concerned, I usually wait a good few weeks for the crowds to disperse, so to speak (I hate crowds, long lines to get tickets, congested parking lots and overall premiere madness with a passion... LOL). But since Akasha insisted, I went... and I had lots of fun. The movie is truly hilarious, if you are in the mood for some lighthearted entertainment, unspoiled by any hints of deeper meaning.;) Or maybe it's because I hardly ever watch movies like that anymore... Anyway, there's been so much gushing over Johnny and Orlando all over my flist that I'm not going to add to the mix.;) Let it suffice that I enjoyed myself - except for the fact that my bladder was giving me HELL through the better part of the film... but that's what usually happens to me at movie theaters, and it's just another reason I generally prefer to wait for the DVD... :D *waves to flist and runs off to bed*
