this isn't even funny anymore

I think I might possibly qualify to be locked up. I spent most of yesterday glued to the computer, devouring a series of VC fanfics. My Google search has yielded a bunch of stuff, but as far as I can see, one author really stands out. Her pen name is DarkAngel. She wrote several longish stories - smart, humorous, engaging and extremely erotic. They are exactly what I was looking for. They have sucked me in like a massive black hole. I was dead to the world. It was afternoon before I managed to unglue myself from the screen long enough to take a shower (I did eat before then, in case you're wondering; I always eat in front of my computer screen when I'm at home). It was VERY LATE afternoon before I decided to get dressed and drag myself out to a grocery store for some essentials (the weather was freaking gorgeous, I had a day off, I should have gone for a walk or something - let alone shop for a new light waterproof jacket and other stuff I'm going to need pretty soon... *sigh*). Upon returning, I planted myself in front of the screen again, and was barely able to transport my ass to bed by midnight. I didn't sleep well, either, since I was too excited (*ahem*) and emotionally moved by my new reading material, woke up too early, dizzy and tired and generally disgusted by the perspective of going to work.:/ I mean, wtf?... I don't have time for non-essentials like "real life".;P I NEED to finish reading those stories.:D But then I realized that once I actually finish them, I am going to feel bereft, because I simply don't believe there is much more quality fic to be found in this fandom (it's been a good few years since any books/movies came out, and there likely won't be any more, ever). So I decided to stretch the pleasure a bit, and deliberately slowed down. But it's hard.:D
Honestly, I don't remember the last time I felt so consumed by fanfic. I know I did, back in my early years of LOTR fandom - but the intensity of those early years has faded a bit by now, and I can no longer find the fire within.;) Sure, there is still a handful of warm embers in the hearth... but the all-consuming blaze is gone. And, apparently, my obsessive nature craves this sort of emotional high, and had to find it elsewhere. Why do I choose mostly dead fandoms, though?... Or, as in this case, UNdead, haha - but what I mean is, these days everybody seems to be into sparkling teenage vampires that hold no interest for me whatsoever. The fanfics I just discovered were written in 1998/99. And I'm afraid that's the most recent stuff I'm going to find. WHY??? Why can I never get into a fandom when it's alive and kicking?... I mean, Vampire Chronicles were still in good shape when I first came upon them - but then I got "distracted" by LOTR, which was just passing its prime. Now, funnily enough, I can't seem to care much about the upcoming LOTR fandom revival (The Hobbit). What is wrong with me? *headshake*
Well, the least I can do is shut up and try to get some decent sleep tonight, for a change. So I can handle another long, BORING, fanfic-less day at the office (reading vampire porn on my work PC wouldn't be a very good idea, I suppose... *frustrated sigh* :P).
