floatingleafCool and rainy today. Wore my new jacket. Wore it all day, as it happens, since it was actually COLDER inside the office than outside. Yes, they crank up the A/C to Arctic levels throughout our office building when it's cool outside. Don't ask me why. It's one of those facts of American life I will never understand. Good thing they sell hot soup in the cafeteria downstairs...
I'm having a hard time concentrating at work. Not just because the stuff I'm currently working on is mind-numbingly boring, but mostly because I am constantly distracted by vivid fantasies of a certain vampire duo. It's like a massive teenage crush. It's baffling and ridiculous and totally intoxicating. I have to consciously stop myself from erupting into random giggle fits at some of the things my brain comes up with. Also, my voracious appetite for MORE fanfic has sent me on another hunting mission, and this time I dug up a whole bunch of websites. As it turns out, the fandom is not nearly as dead as I thought it was. It's sort of lurking quietly in the sidelines of pop culture, LOL - but if you are honestly looking for it, it can be found. I've seen archives updated as recently as this year - THIS WEEK, even - which makes me deliriously happy. It means people are still writing in this fandom, NOW. Some of it is bound to be badfic, obviously - but what I've sampled so far seems rather promising, on the whole. And let's face it - sometimes even badfic is good enough, when it addresses a particular fannish craving (that's how I know I am really head over heels this time; I can no longer read badfic in the LOTR fandom, my finger automatically goes for the back button at the sight of a glaring grammatical error or some such... LOL). Sometimes a sweet, obvious cliche is exactly what you need...;)
To illustrate my point, here's an image I just found that makes me sigh in bliss (why yes, I've been searching for fanart, too):
Yeah, I know I'm beginning to sound like an old analog record skipping over and over the same old tune. But I can't seem to be able to help it, so please bear with me (or be warned that you might prefer to skip the majority of my posts from now on...:D).
In other news, my chiropractor called me to say she's still in the old office till the end of September, so I'm seeing her tomorrow. And then, in October, she's only moving right across the street. So, hopefully, I won't have to wait much more than a month between appointments... *massive sigh of relief on behalf of my tortured neck & trapezius muscles, LOL*
Of course, my neck wouldn't be quite so tortured if I spent a little less time glued to the computer screen... but that would mean less fanfic, and we can't have that, now can we? :D Yes, I know. Another topic that makes me sound like an old analog record. Maturity and health and self-discipline and all that, MUAHAHAH. I'd better shut up now, non? *resigned headshake*
