Bullet point update, because that's all my grey matter seems capable of at the moment...

1) The weather keeps acting confused. It was really nice and warm for a few days, but then it got cold, wet and gloomy all over again.:/ Then the sun came out, but hasn't brought any warmth so far. I wore my winter jacket yesterday and today. Unsurprisingly, the heating in my building was turned off during those few warmer days - and I don't think it's coming back. It's nearly the middle of May, after all. Usually, they shut it off sometime in April. I have my little space heater on at the moment, but it isn't doing a hell of a lot to keep me warm...

2) I managed to injure myself in a really stupid way. I tore a strip of peeling dead skin off my left heel, exposing a raw, sensitive spot - which caused me to put my foot down sort of sideways for the next 2-3 days, in order to avoid putting too much pressure on that sensitive area. Which, in turn, resulted in somehow messing up my knee.:/ It doesn't quite hurt, but it feels slightly swollen, and decidedly less flexible than the right one. I can walk OK on a flat surface, but I am sort of limping while going up or down the stairs.:| By the way, this reminds me why I don't wear high heels; if I am unable to comfortably rest my body weight on my entire foot, my knees get fucked up. I'll be sure to keep that in mind as I get older... *scowls*

3) I just finished going through the entire discography of Charis Alexiou on Soundike.com. I downloaded well over 100 tracks. O_O I don't think I've ever had that many songs by a single artist. And I wasn't just randomly grabbing everything either. I went through the samples and picked only the songs I really liked - sometimes no more than 2-3 per album. That's how much music this woman has recorded between 1975 and 2010. She is quite a legend in Greece, it seems, and has a very professionally done website, too (http://www.alexiou.gr/). Also, her songs remind me of my first trip to Greece in 1996. That's when I discovered her - our tour guide kept playing her music on the bus. So listening to it now is quite a trip for me, in more ways than one.;) I am transported through time and space, LOL. By the way, she isn't your typical pop singer; she's done a lot of traditional, folky stuff like most Greek musicians (Greeks are very attached to their roots, and often prefer their own traditional music to any outside influences) - but, on the whole, she has her own distinctive style, and her powerful voice adds depth and passion to nearly every song she chooses to perform.

So, without further ado, here's a sample - a rather dramatic song called Magissa (The Witch):

And now, it's definitely time to change into my thick, granny-style flannel nightie (*snort*) and burrow under the duvet...

I think it's a German problem - for some stuff you have to pay GEMA ... a kind of fee. And so we can't see a lot of videos on youtube ... :-(

Well that sucks. But I think the internet is becoming more and more restricted all over the planet. I get a lot of "unavailable" videos too in recent years - and I don't recall it ever happening before... *sigh*
