I just realized I never finished my 30-day-meme - the one I've been doing, on and off, since 2010 - and there is only ONE topic left to finish it, and it just so happens that the topic fits with something I felt like sharing anyway. So, in the vein of happy coincidences, there you go.

As I was waiting for the bus on Friday night after work, a total stranger complimented me on my appearance. Not only was she a stranger; she was also much younger than me (in her mid-thirties, probably), which somehow made the compliment all the more surprising. There was nothing creepy or uncomfortable about the situation, like there often is when I get compliments from guys (usually men well into their sixties, LOL). She smiled a really sweet, friendly smile, which I couldn't help but return; then proceeded to inform me that I was cute, and that she liked my hair. To put things in perspective, it was VERY windy outside and my hair was a complete, ridiculous mess. But it didn't sound like she was being sarcastic. It sounded like a random observation that extroverted people sometimes make to perfect strangers in public. She saw another woman whose appearance she found pleasing, so she just smiled and said so. And I was deeply touched by the sincerity and generosity of this unexpected gift. And found myself wishing I could do the same for any number of random strangers on the bus, who perhaps have no idea that they look "cute", or "beautiful", or "intriguing" to SOMEONE. No hidden agenda behind it, no flattery, no seduction; just a simple statement of "hey, this is how I see you, fellow human being". So guileless, and yet so profound. Of course, it isn't something that introverts like me ever do, and I'm not about to make a habit of it; but maybe, just maybe, every once in a while I could muster up the courage. Food for thought, anyway...

In other news, it's been a quiet weekend. At least on the surface. At the risk of sounding very cryptic (again), let me just say that the past few days were filled with intense and positive communication, resulting in perfect understanding and clearing up of any possible doubts about some important stuff.:) In other words, sometimes being open with yourself and others about what you want (or don't want) makes it possible for the universe to deliver exactly that. Btw, maybe that's why I seemed so appealing to that stranger at the bus stop. Maybe because I looked happy. Happiness makes people beautiful. Even if they're in their forties, and their hair looks a mess.;)

On an unrelated note (or perhaps not really), I have been rediscovering one of my favorite bands. The Waterboys. I just realized I only had an old, creaky cassette tape with some tracks from that legendary first album, Fisherman's Blues. So I looked them up on my fave download site (Soundike.com), and found a few gorgeous songs I had never heard before. Including this one:

I have a feeling a few people on my flist might really love it.:D

And another one - a live performance this time, because it's amazingly vibrant in this particular clip:

The sensual and the spiritual, combined. The very essence of the universe. I must be attracting some incredibly good energies lately for some reason...;)

It would be awesome if more people gave out compliments like that, with no ulterior motive :) Unfortunately I think we're all so cynical these days that they wouldn't always be taken in the spirit they're meant =/

Exactly. That's why I don't do it. I worry that someone might take me for a creep... *sigh*
