Hmmm... I guess it's basically true. It's the positive side of me, anyway - or the ideal I strive towards in my most generous moments.;) Good at keeping secrets, though?... Well... let's say I try.:P

I spent all day running around like mad. Bought all kinds of stuff for my new place: cleaning supplies, trash cans, rugs, shower curtain, hand-held shower attachment (since that's the only kind I'm really comfortable with), a set of plastic bathroom shelves, dish drainer etc.etc.etc. I basically raided any store I could think of: Target, Walmart, K-Mart, Meijer... you name the place - I was there.:D Actually, I started on that last night, after I had gone to check out the apartment and found it so scarily EMPTY and HUGE (though I guess any place looks huge if there's almost nothing in it), as well as in need of much serious cleaning.:| Let me just say that the bathtub and kitchen sink looked decidedly uninviting.:/ So I basically poured half a can of Comet all over the filth and left it that way for now. As for furniture, I looked at some today, but didn't see anything more promising than what I had seen last weekend - so tomorrow I'm planning on going back to the store I liked best (which is a Scandinavian furniture store called Dania, btw... how very fitting for a Viggo fan, isn't it? ;P) and actually ordering something. What I have in mind is a nice sofa-bed that is not divided into two parts in the middle, but curves gently upwards on one side at an adjustable angle (I haven't seen anything like that anywhere but at that store, and thought it looked pretty cool & comfy; besides, my sister & brother-in-law have one and are very happy with it); as well as a wall unit/bookcase with a desk built into it (again, that's a very European thing, and I kinda miss it here). That would pretty much have me covered as far as basic furniture needs go. I just need to make sure the measurements fit, and pray that the delivery people are actually able to lug the stuff all the way up to the third floor with no elevator and a narrow, rickety staircase.;) Seriously, the thought of that makes me nervous. What if I order the furniture, and then it turns out that it just won't go up there? Well, I guess the bookcase/desk thing can be disassembled (is that a word?), but the sofa looked like it was all in one piece. Still, I do need something to sleep on, and if I buy a regular bed instead, it might be even more difficult to get it upstairs. On the other hand, I don't suppose my future neighbors all use sleeping bags & carry-mats.;) So there must be a way to make this happen, I guess. *tries not to worry*

Okay. Enough of that (for now :). I'm dead tired and want to be up and running relatively early tomorrow again, so that I can take care of the furniture issue and finish cleaning the place, as well as meet up with [profile] akashaelfwitch, who is leaving permanently for Ohio very soon and might not have the time to see me again before she goes. So yeah... if I ever thought I was busy before, I had no idea what I was talking about.:D

Does the apartment have back stairs as well as a front entrance? Sometimes they are wider than the front hallways. I have vivid memories of lugging furniture into my brother's first (also third floor) apartment in Rogers Park, especially an incredibly heavy Victorian loveseat that was the inspiration for Red. We had to come up the back stairs and lift it over the railings because we couldn't make it around some of the curves otherwise. But a lot of Scandinavian furniture comes unassembled when you buy it, which would make it a lot easier to get into the apartment.

Yes, there is a back staircase, but it doesn't seem any wider.:/

Well, I guess I'll just make sure not to buy any Victorian loveseats.;)

It's so exiting to look for, to choose, to buy new stuff to your own apartment! I remember the feeling very well, as practically we've just finished furnishing our. When will you spend the first night there?

March 2nd. That's when they are going to deliver my new furniture (sofa & desk). I still can't believe this is really happening... *blinks in amazement*
