So, about that Polish website where you can look for old friends/acquaintances from school/college etc.... Two of my friends found me there, and sent me messages to get back in touch, before I even managed to decide how to approach them. Almost as soon as my profile was up, they were there - which means they must have actually looked for me. I feel almost embarrassed at how happy that made me. I missed them so much... but I guess I was too proud to try contacting them again after they stopped responding to my emails a few years back. I knew they probably never made a conscious decision to cut me off - just got entangled in their own busy lives - but still... I hate feeling like I'm forcing myself on anyone, and if my email remains unanswered for months, in most cases I will not trouble that person again. And then, after months stretched into years, I didn't even know if my contact info for those people was correct anymore... So I basically gave up on them (or rather decided they had given up on me, even though that was pretty hard to accept). And now they're all "here you are, where have you been, we haven't heard from you for so long". Well... duh. I was here all the time, waiting for one of you guys to give a sign of life or something. *blinks*
Anyway... we'll see what comes out of this. Apart from some of the friends I used to hang out with right before I left for the States five years ago, I also found a few people I haven't seen or heard from for much longer. Including the girl who sat next to me for most of elementary school, and who I probably had my first gay crush on.:) Yep, the one who still appears in my dreams pretty regularly after all those years. That's quite freaky, isn't it? Well, I'm not actually 100% positive I found her, because the profile has no photo attached; but the name (not a very common one), age and town of residence are all correct, so I suppose it must be her. I wrote her a message - I wonder if she will respond...
I just came up with another 'grand improvisation' dish, involving sea scallops, Brussels sprouts, apples & grapes. As well as plenty of Spanish onion, freshly crushed garlic, diced fennel, and well over half a bottle of white cooking wine.;) (Yeah, I needn't have used THAT much, I could have added more of the chicken broth instead, but I sort of got carried away... and the wine is really the only 'empty calorie' component in the dish anyway.) I doesn't taste quite as astounding as it may sound, but it does have some potential to it, and I WILL figure out how to improve it in the future.:D The real hit, though, was a recipe from my "All in One" cookbook that I had tried out last weekend: Moroccan Vegetable Stew. Sweet potatoes, eggplant, butternut squash, chickpeas & prunes (mmmmm... I LOVE prunes!...), seasoned with fresh gingerroot, ground cumin, coriander, turmeric and cinnamon sticks. Holy Cow. I can become a vegetarian any day, if it means eating stuff like that.:D So rich, so fragrant, so nutritious and utterly satisfying. Except the squash was a total pain in the ass to peel & dice - I swear the damn things are hard as stones. Far worse than raw potatoes! *grumbles* Next time I make it, I'm going to replace the squash with mango. What? If you can have prunes in a stew, surely you can have mango too. It's almost the same color as the squash, but much easier to handle (you can even buy it already cut into chunks, lol) - and the dish will taste even better. *rubs hands together*
And now, a special treat for the few select individuals who are actually still reading this: a Viggorli dream I had a few nights ago. I'm not trying to be exhibitionist here - I just can't help mentioning the dream because it was so amusing. So... here goes: I am in a room full of people, sitting around on beds & on the carpet, apparently waiting for something - and among those people are Orlando & Viggo (I don't recognize anyone else - though that may be because I just don't pay attention to anyone else, imo ;). It seems that we are all going to be there for quite some time... so at some point the boys start to look for ways to occupy themselves. Without much ado, they stretch out on the bed next to each other, hands down each other's pants, groping shamelessly. Everyone else in the room turns their backs on them in embarrassment or disgust. I am the only one who can't look away. They don't seem to notice or care... but then, after a while, Orlando gets up and leaves for the bathroom, while Viggo turns to me, pulls me into his arms and basically gives me the same treatment. While I mumble incoherently, something to the effect of not being sure how Orlando feels about this and not wanting to come between them. Whereupon Viggo answers, in his raspiest bedroom voice - and never stopping his ministrations for a second, I might add - that Orlando certainly wouldn't mind, and well... wouldn't it be rather nice to actually come between them?... As in, literally, I suppose. Not that he put it in those exact words; I think he was speaking Polish, which didn't surprise me somehow (not a long stretch for someone who can do perfect Russian... lol), and frankly, I was barely able to focus on words anyway.:P So after hearing this interesting proposition, I basically lost it and, well... woke up. Upon which I saw that it was already 7:20 a.m., and I had to get a major move on so as not to be late for work. No time for sweet contemplation... lol. I was kinda grinning stupidly for most of the day, though.:P
Oh, and here is what he looked like in the dream:

Clever interpretations, anyone?... *snort*
