I can't believe it's been a year already

So... today is the exact anniversary of my move. A full year spent at this new apartment. Which means I now know all the pros & cons of living here, in all seasons. Most importantly, I know I CAN actually survive winter here... LOL. Not that the winter is over already, mind you... but it will be, soon, if there is any justice left in this world.;) Anyway, it was a bad one, and it doesn't really get much worse, even here in Chicago (*knocks on wood*) - so the fact that it went by without too many traumatic events (like spending over 30 minutes looking for a parking spot, getting stuck in the snow while trying to get out of the street etc.) is a good sign for the future.;) Basically, the parking situation is the only major drawback of living in this area - but it would be pretty much the same (or worse) in other parts of the city (except for the suburbs, where you simply don't find studio apartments for rent below $700 a month - ergo, there's no such option for me anyway).
1) complete privacy (top floor, side wing of the building, only one apartment next to mine);
2) quiet neighborhood (it really is, despite that single shooting incident last summer; and thanks to the building being set apart from the main street, I don't hear much traffic either);
3) infernal central heating (I like to stay warm throughout the cold season, thank you very much - I'd much rather have to leave the windows open because the radiators are too hot, than have to buy myself a space heater ;P);
4) a few grocery stores/pharmacies/bus stops etc. within walking distance, should my car ever play a nasty trick on me and refuse to cooperate;
5) plenty of trees, greenery and quiet, shady paths to stroll along in the warmer season (or, at least, during those few precious weeks between 'too cold' and 'too hot' to actually enjoy being outside for more than five minutes at a time... lol).
In summary, I could have done much worse, and am looking forward to at least a few more years here (provided the rent doesn't go up faster than my salary... lol). And that's really all I have the time to say tonight.:(
