Life is certainly full of surprises, isn't it? This would seem like the worst time for writing, and yet... the muses chose to come back full force and grace me with this brand new little ficlet which practically wrote itself in the scant few hours between 10p.m. and 2a.m. last night. I don't normally stay up that late anymore, even on weekends - but I felt so exhilarated at finally being able to write again that I just had to finish. The funny thing is, I suspect that this sudden bout of inspiration might have been brought on by an anthology of erotic lesbian stories I am currently reading (you know, trying to find something I might want to translate for my publisher friend back in Poland). Don't ask me how or why that helps with writing m/m slash. I'm not sure I know.;P One thing I can definitely say is that in whatever I read or write (or translate, for that matter), I am primarily interested in feelings, emotions, the dynamics of relationships and human (or Elven in this case, lol) interaction - not in the mechanics of sex itself. That is a very secondary thing to me - and so is gender, basically, even though I do prefer exploring homosexual relationships to heterosexual ones (probably because they are simply closer to my personal experience and I feel more confident talking about them). And I am perfectly fine with PWP's - but they must be featuring either an established couple, or the beginnings of such (first time sex between people who feel very intensely about each other). Otherwise it's just a waste of time for me. Which could be one of the reasons why I'd much rather read fanfic than 'original' erotica where the characters often seem too anonymous (if there is little characterization and no 'back story', I simply don't understand why these two/three etc. people are having sex, or why I would want to know anything about it, and can't for the life of me get into it enough to actually feel turned on, even mentally - if you know what I'm talking about). But enough of the background philosophy for now - on with the fanfic.:) I hope it brings a smile to whoever choses to read it - as it has certainly done for me.:D

Title: Investigation
Author: Floating Leaf
Pairings: A/L, E/E/L (implied)
Rating: PG-13, I think
Summary: Legolas and the Twins have a talk.
Warnings: Complete sap and silliness.
Disclaimer: The characters belong to Tolkien, though he probably wouldn't recognize them by now.
Author's Notes: This little snippet immediately follows Pure Bliss. If you click on the 'my fiction' tag at the bottom of this post, you will see all the other ficlets taking place in the same universe, which include also Naughty Thoughts, Secret Mission and Closer Than Brothers (that last one is out of chronological order and does not need to be read to follow the storyline). Hopefully there will be more. *crosses fingers for her wayward muses' future cooperation*

Legolas stretched luxuriously, sighing in bliss as his pleasantly aching body savoured the memory of last night's activities. Estel had claimed him so fully, so fiercely, with such genuine youthful ardour that a sudden hot flush suffused his face at the recollection. He couldn't wait to feel that proud, eager manhood throbbing inside him once again. He bit his lip as a wave of intense desire washed over him, making his stomach clench. By the Valar, no one had ever made him feel this way... not even the Twins. They were amazing, especially when the attention of both was simultaneously focused upon him... but Estel's fiery, yet innocent passion touched him to the very core of his being. He wanted to give the young Man all of himself into complete possession, to pledge his faith to him forever. He had a feeling the gift would be accepted with unwavering devotion and absolute trust. The Twins never required so much of him, because they did not need it. They had each other. Estel was the one who could draw strength from his undivided affection, and Legolas was more than willing to let him know in every way that he was loved best of all. A tender smile curved his lips as he pictured the boy's flushed, rapturous face close to his own. He was lost to this pure human heart, and ready to fight all the demons of Mordor itself so he could keep it.

There was a knock on the door. Still lost in his musings, Legolas rose languidly, pulling the sheet around his naked frame as he left the bed. He smoothed his hair distractedly and turned the doorknob, revealing two curious faces trying to peek in through the gap between the heavy oak panel and the frame.

"Aren't you going to let us in?...", Elrohir asked impatiently.

Legolas moved away from the door. The Twins barged in, closed it behind them and made themselves at home in the large, comfortable armchair next to the bed.

"Well...", Elrohir continued after a moment's silence. "How was it?"

"How was what?", Legolas asked in confusion, before sudden understanding dawned on him and he blushed.

Elrohir shook his head in disbelief. "Your hot date with Estel, of course", he explained graciously, as if talking to a slow-witted child.

Legolas blinked at him, clutching the crumpled sheet to his chest.

Elladan nudged Elrohir in the ribs. "By Eru, he is blushing", he whispered theatrically into his brother's ear, though Elrohir would have heard him just as well from across the room.

"Indeed", Elrohir answered, eyeing Legolas suspiciously. "And I truly believed he had lost that ability centuries ago", he mused.

Legolas sighed and shook his head, unable to keep from smiling.

"You evil, tactless brutes", he chided half-heartedly, sitting down on the edge of the bed. "Must you always know everything, even if it's none of your business?..."

"Especially if it's none of our business", Elrohir corrected him with a mock-serious expression. "In this case, however, I believe we have every right to inquire after the health and wellbeing of our little brother, who was so guilelessly placed in your devious clutches last night." He grinned slyly and winked.

"There was nothing guileless about the way you two arranged our tryst", Legolas protested. "And as for being devious -"

"Let us not stray away from the topic", Elladan cut in. "What is done, is done. All we need to know right now is the outcome. Namely... how was it?"

They both turned expectant faces toward him. Legolas knew full well they would not leave until they had his answer. So he might just as well give it to them.

He leaned back against the headboard, a secretive smile playing upon his lips. "It was.. amazing."

The Twins looked at each other, than back at him. Elrohir cleared his throat.

"Are you implying you had the best sex of your long, adventurous life with our distinctly inexperienced little brother, who hadn't so much as kissed anyone before?..."

Legolas smiled brightly at their incredulous expressions. "He is a quick study."

"So it would seem", Elladan mused, lost in thought. "We could see well enough he was besotted with you... but you appear to be just as besotted with him, unless my senses deceive me", he continued slowly, as if talking to himself.

"Your senses are as sharp as ever, 'Dan", Legolas said quietly, twisting the edge of the sheet between his fingers.

"And he pleases you better than we ever did?...", Elrohir asked, though it did not sound like a question at all.

"I wouldn't have believed it possible myself... until last night", Legolas whispered, looking down at his hands. He recalled the feeling of Estel's body pinning him down to the bed as he was ridden with wild abandon, and blushed again.

"Well... I suppose we'd better get used to the fact that our little Estel isn't so little anymore", Elladan concluded.

"That he certainly isn't", Legolas blurted out before he could stop himself.

After a moment of stunned silence Elrohir snorted in surprised laughter, collapsing against Elladan's chest. "Oh Valar... now I finally understand. It was our measurements that weren't to your satisfaction..." He wiped tears from the corners of his eyes and clutched at Elladan's shoulders, which were silently shaking against him.

Flushing a deep shade of scarlet, Legolas pulled the sheet up over his face. "I never said anything of the kind", he protested weakly.

"That's because, unlike us, you are not a tactless brute", Elrohir countered, still giggling. "At any rate... we have just decided we will magnanimously forgive you." He glanced at Elladan, as though for confirmation, and the older twin nodded gravely, fighting to calm his breathing. "Especially since we now know our not-so-little brother" - another snort as Elladan elbowed him in the ribs - "is safe from pain and heartbreak at your hands. He can have you all to himself... provided we are occasionally allowed to watch", he added, swatting at Elladan's palm that attempted to box him on the ear.

Legolas buried his face in the pillow. "Valar save me from well-wishing friends and protective brothers", he muttered. He tried to picture Estel's reaction at the prospect of being watched by the Twins, and he had to laugh. Poor Estel. Not that he thought Elrohir was being serious. Though knowing him, he might just as well have been. Hmmm... best not to pursue that thought right now. He had to compose himself, get up and kick the incorrigible pair out of his room, so he could get dressed in peace and make himself presentable enough to face Lord Elrond's entire household at breakfast. Which, considering last night's events, this morning's conversation and the unruly thoughts chasing one another recklessly around his head at the moment, was going to be a challenge.

Oh, I'm so happy to see this series continue again! I love your naughty Elves and your passionate young Estel!

I hope you're going to post this at the comms as well as at your own LJ. When your inspiration strikes, it deserves to be widely read. :-)

Glad to be of service.;)

Yes, I will post at the comms sometime tonight. I don't remember the last time I've gotten more than 3-5 comments per post, and I don't suppose that counts as "widely read" - but I appreciate your kind words anyway.:)
