News Item No.1: Vacation problem solved. There is a Slashy Retreat in Texas in October ([profile] texas_retreat). I almost forgot about it, then thought it was already too late to sign up... but it wasn't. All booked now, including the plane ticket. Definitely cheaper than the Yaoi Con in San Francisco would have been.:) Plus, I'll get to meet some famous ladies from the Adult_Viggo Yahoo!Group.:P

News Item No.2: I got the fingerprint notice for my citizenship application already. I only sent the application about three weeks ago. The website said you normally wait 9-12 months to hear back from them after they file your case. OMG WTF???... Unless I misunderstood the instructions and it meant that the waiting period starts AFTER they take your fingerprints. Since they apparently need them checked out by the FBI before they can process your application. You know, just in case you're a dangerous terrorist or something. *headshake*

News Item No.3: The boss wants me to do 3 hours of overtime each week in September - including this current week. Which means I have to come in to work this Saturday (I normally leave at 5:30, and we are only allowed to stay in the building till 6:00, so I can't make up 3 extra hours by Friday, unless I start earlier - which is, of course, allowed, but highly distressing to my often sleep-deprived, never-in-bed-by-midnight self). Which is probably what I would have done anyway, rather than stay at work till 6 every day of the week (I only stay when I don't need to shop for groceries on the way home and when my dinner is all cooked & waiting in the fridge - otherwise, I'm just too fucking starving by the time I put my food together, thank you very much). Still, it would be nice to know a little more in advance, wouldn't it? Plus, next week I have to take time off (possibly the whole day) for that damn fingerprinting appointment, which is at noon. And then, towards the end of the week, I'm supposed to get my period. So no overtime, I suppose. Even if I don't need to call in sick by Friday, there's no way I'm coming in on Saturday if I feel like crap. Wild horses won't drag me in there... lol. But then she'll probably want me to do MORE overtime the week after. OK, whatever. I know I shouldn't complain, because the extra few bucks certainly won't hurt - but for some reason I'm starting to feel like a caged animal. I so NEED that damn vacation. Is it October already?... *squirms*

The 9-12 months of waiting probably does begin after your fingerprinting. The FBI takes forever to process prints. Between my former employment with the police and my sister's military security checks at each new duty station, I've become familiar with this delay. She didn't have her updated security clearance before she left for training in May and had been at the most recent post since July of last year. Of course, with the military and the FBI involved, that explains it all.

Thanks for the info. I got nervous there for a moment, thinking they might actually schedule my citizenship exam for when I'm supposed to be in Dallas.:)

Oh, let's hope not! It's highly doubtful in any case but especially since your trip is in the next few weeks.
