So I went to work on Saturday. It felt extremely weird to be there, but, fortunately for my sanity, I wasn't the only one, and the three hours passed very quickly. I think I can handle it every once in a while.;)

Also, a quick culinary note to myself: after making a salad dressing that contains yogurt/mayonnaise etc. (AND lemon juice as well), it is REALLY a good idea to store it separately and only mix with the salad right before eating. Otherwise the salad just might get a little bit... less exciting the next day.;)
And while I'm on this topic, let me just say I'm NOT going to try any recipe that involves tofu ever again. Blargh. I might be slightly obsessed with eating healthy at the moment, but I do have my limits... lol. Plus, the mushrooms & the delicious Sichuan sauce (which, unfortunately, didn't impart any flavor to the tasteless, colorless lumps) would go just as well with chicken, I'm sure.:D

And while I'm here, let me recommend a sweet (despite being rather heavy on the angst) Asian/American movie called Ethan Mao. A touching story of a teenager who gets thrown out of his father's house for being gay, ends up on the streets, and meets a cute Latino drug dealer named Remigio.:) It's hard to imagine young, innocent love under the circumstances... but there you have it. Plus a lot of heavy family drama in the background. Gave me a few genuine Kleenex moments, and the ending totally melted my heart. Don't get me wrong - it's not sacharine or 'happy' in a typical 'American movie' way, where all the problems suddenly disappear without a trace. It wouldn't have moved me so much if it was. I may be a sap, but I don't dissolve into tears over a story I don't find believable. So please trust me that it is, indeed, a good movie.:)

EDIT: I forgot to mention that yesterday my scale showed 134 lbs. That's the lowest since... I don't know, sometime around 2003 or 2004, I suppose. As well as almost 30 lbs down since last summer. Wow. Looks like I really did it. I am, in fact, genuinely impressed with myself - and let me tell you, that doesn't happen very often.:P

Fast fixes don't work. I've heard way too many stories of people who dropped it all in record time due to some 'miracle diet', and then ballooned right back up as soon as the diet was over. Besides, I was never one for drastic solutions. I am a slow, patient individual. Change takes time for me, but once it's done, it's done. I couldn't go back to my old unhealthy eating habits - it would feel like finding a priceless gem in a heap of garbage, spending ages cleaning & polishing it to perfection, and then dropping it right back into the dumpster, you know?...

Congratulations on achieving your weight loss, and safely in the process! I'm making similar changes in my own diet to ease off the pounds but I must agree: tofu, ugh. There are just certain extremes to which I am NOT willing to go.

Thank you. My policy can be summed up as follows: 'do it by small, easy steps' and 'don't force yourself, it doesn't have to hurt'.;) Extremes were never really my thing; I just keep experimenting and picking my favorite foods among the ones that I know are healthy, or the healthier ones among those I know I like.:D

Hey girl! It's good to see you here.:)

You know, I was just thinking about you, wondering what you were up to - and then I opened my email and there were the LJ comment notifications. So I hereby dare anyone to tell me that telepathy does not exist.;)

*hugs back*
