1. What do you usually wear to bed?
Old-fashioned frilly nightgowns that sometimes make people poke fun at me.:P
2. What do you do before bedtime?
Brush my teeth, place a glass of water on my nightstand, quickly check email & LJ for the last time before I shut off my laptop for the night - in that order.:)
3. Have you ever been a bridesmaid/groomsman? What was it like?
No, and I don't think it'll happen anytime soon.
4. What is the city of your dreams and why?
Athens, Greece. Because it captivated me more than any other city I've ever seen.
5. What was the last book you read? When?
Do yaoi comics count as books? ;P Well... probably not. In that case, it was an anthology of lesbian love stories. Or one of a few such anthologies that I've been sampling lately in search of something worth translating. You know, for my publisher friend in Poland to put on her website, and eventually issue in print. If it ever happens, you know. *shrug*
6. Ever cheated on someone?
No.
7. If the person you secretly like is already attached, what would you do?
Nothing. And I probably wouldn't do much if they weren't 'attached' either. I'm just not very proactive in these matters. Which probably explains why I've been single for most of my life... lol.
8. Is there anything that has made you unhappy these days?
Homophobia and social prejudice being disguised as 'morality' or 'family values'. Not just these days, but... I'm pretty sure anyone reading this knows what I'm referring to. *sigh*
9. What do you wish you could eat right now?
Cheesecake. I haven't had cheesecake in months.
10. What are your guilty pleasure shows?
As in TV shows? I don't watch TV.
11. What is one of your biggest pet peeves?
People mispronouncing my name.
12. What’s the last song that got stuck in your head?
"Not Every Pain Hurts" by Lacrimosa. There is usually a Lacrimosa song stuck in my head at any given time, but it isn't always the same song.;)
13. What’s your favorite item of clothing?
I'm supposed to pick just one?... I am so emotionally attached to so many useless old rags it's not even funny anymore.:D
14. What's better...to give or receive?
That depends on what's being given... or received.:P
15. What's the first thing you notice in people?
Attitude, I suppose. Confidence or lack thereof. Kindness or lack thereof. I think I instinctively place people on a spectrum ranging from "shy and unobtrusive", through "confident but respectful", all the way to "obnoxious and arrogant". I get on well with the first variety, unconsciously drift towards the second, and completely avoid the third.
16. Would you bungee jump from the Empire State Building for $10,000,000?
NEVER. I got nauseous on a merry-go-round when I was a kid, okay? And I used to have recurring nightmares of falling down from a great height, which caused my stomach to knot up so badly in fear that I woke up with a jump, drenched in cold sweat. So no dangling up in the air for me, thank you very much.
17. What were your parents going to name you if you'd been born the opposite gender?
Sebastian, actually. I remember, because it sounded so much better than my 'girl' name that I almost wished I had been born a boy just to have it... lol.
In other news, I had a call this morning form the nice immigration officer who conducted my citizenship interview. She said she had overlooked something and needs me to come again. Probably no reason to get nervous, but... wtf??? I should have known it seemed too smooth & easy to be true.:| Besides, I was already saving my LAST AVAILABLE vacation day for the oath of allegiance appointment. And now I had to take another half day off. At that rate, pretty soon I might have to start coming in to work on Saturdays just to make up my regular 40 hours, not to be paid for overtime. *sigh*
Remember that company in India that is supposedly helping us do our jobs faster (and that is the reason so many people got laid off)?... Well... we have to check everything they do on a daily basis, give them feedback, check it again after they've supposedly corrected their mistakes, and give them feedback again on what ELSE needs to be fixed... and so on and so forth, ad infinitum. It takes at least three times as long as it would have if we were to do the work ourselves. We are also cross-training each other, because from now on it will be pretty much everyone doing everything, as opposed to each person focusing on one specific section of our database. So the regular daily work just piles up on our desks, while the boss keeps throwing various 'urgent' side projects at us about seven times an hour (and then appearing very surprised when we tell her we haven't managed to do this or that). Pure entertainment, I tell you.;\
