In other news, I've been busy today. Went to the local Social Security office and showed them my citizenship certificate and the court document proving that I've changed my name. I should be getting the new Social Security card in the mail within the next two weeks. Then I went to the post office to pick up some yaoi books I had ordered from Amazon.:) (We got this $50 reward at my workplace for filling out an online health questionnaire, so it's not like I actually spent a penny on them - not this time, anyway.;) Then I went grocery shopping to this really cheap supermarket that I hardly ever go to, because it's too far out of my way to visit during the regular working week. I wish I lived closer to it - I bought enough food to last me till next weekend, I think, and paid only about fifty bucks. I'm making a seafood stir-fry with fresh herbs (garlic, oregano & thyme), broccoli, Brussels sprouts & couscous tomorrow.:)

Btw, last Wednesday I tried to get the name changed on my driver's license (had to go to the local drivers' facility anyway, since my new license sticker got lost in the mail). But no such luck. They told me I needed to change the title first! It actually took me a moment to realize they were talking about the car title. I had all but forgotten about the existence of this document. I haven't seen it or thought about it since my parents bought me the car in 2002. I'm not even sure where I keep it. I suppose it might be in one of my bedroom drawers back at my parents' house. I wonder if I'm going to find it, lol - let alone figure out where I need to go to have it changed. *headshake*

Here it is possible to get a duplicate title if you've lost the original but you'll jump through a lot of hoops. Search high and low for your original before starting that adventure. Below are some links that should help from my google search.

Wow. Thanks! I do hope I'm going to find it, I seem to remember putting it away at the bottom of a drawer... lol.

Looks like I just need to go to the drivers' facility again to do this, not anywhere else - which is a relief.:) But the third link says: You may change your name on your Illinois title and registration at the same time as you update your driver's license or ID, but not before. And that's the exact opposite of what they told me. *headshake* Well, I guess I'll just gather up all the paperwork and show up on their doorstep hoping for the best.;)
