My car wouldn't start this morning. No idea why - it seemed perfectly fine last night. Had to take public transportation to work. Was an hour late. Have to get up earlier tomorrow so it doesn't happen again. Same thing Friday, of course. No clue how I'm going to get to my chiropractic appointment on Saturday morning. Probably won't make it.:/ Same goes for the regular weekend grocery shopping trip. The only two stores close enough for me to walk there are Aldi (cheap, but mostly crappy stuff - hardly anything I usually buy) and Jewel (expensive - haven't shopped there since I started my 'saving on groceries' plan). And 'close enough to walk' doesn't necessarily mean 'close enough to walk carrying fifteen heavy bags of food'. I'm so looking forward to pulling a shoulder muscle - especially since I won't be able to see my chiropractor.:[
Oh, and why yes, I have just recently spent $360 to fix the car, haven't I?
Life sucks.:(

Best wishes for a mysterious but timely spontaneous resuscitation of your car. Or, failing that, a more reasonable repair bill.

Ah, that's my official 'pissed off' icon.:) Angry Viggo = Sexy Viggo. From a very old and very, very bad (though amusing) horror movie called Prison. Which I'm sure you haven't seen, because you don't seem to be one of those rabid fans who would watch (or even purchase!... lol) any kind of pathetic crap whatsoever, just because Viggo happens to be in it.;P

Thanks. And guess what? You must have some sort of magical powers, because that's exactly what happened. Mysterious, but spontaneous resuscitation. Namely, tonight it started again, and seems perfectly fine. I wonder for how long. *remains extremely puzzled*
Looks like it was just having a bad day, or something. Inanimate objects... *headshake*

Date: 2009-03-29 05:12 pm (UTC)It is. The latest trouble was probably something stupid, like I had moved the steering wheel when I was already parked and that temporarily blocked something in the ignition. At least that's what my parents say. What do I know?... *shrug*
Of course, when you have a car that is 12 years old, frequent car trouble is pretty much a given and should be calculated into your budget. *sigh*
And I know all about being behind. In many things. *hugs back*

Date: 2009-03-29 05:15 pm (UTC)My first car was a pile of junk. One time I parked it and the bumper just fell off. My second car gave me panic attacks because I would accelerate to go over a junction and it would go and then just stop dead in the middle of the junction for no reason. It got to the point where I just couldn't drive it anymore. My third car was a good car but I drove sitting crookedly because the seat wouldn't go back far enough for my legs so I ended up needing physiotherapy. *g* My current car accepts that I am useless and has never failed me. *touch wood* I took a road trip all the way to Scotland in it and it got me there and back safely, so I quietly adore it. Now I've probably jinxed it. ;)
I feel like I'm behind in everything right now. *sigh*
*HUGS*

Date: 2009-03-29 08:50 pm (UTC)Wow. I can totally see this happening to me one day.:/
My current car is my first car, and probably my last. I can't afford a new one. There's no way I could manage another monthly payment on top of my rent and bills. So once this old piece of junk falls apart, I'll be taking the bus (or asking friends to drive me to the grocery store now and again, I guess).
Sometimes I miss life in the old country, where the buses/streetcars were more frequent (because not so many people had cars) and there usually was a small grocery store on every corner. So you just grabbed a few essentials on your way home from the bus stop each day, instead of making those massive shopping trips and stocking up for the week like I do now. And you didn't even have to worry about learning to drive, because affording a car wasn't within the realm of possibilities anyway.:P

Date: 2009-04-13 01:14 pm (UTC)Cars are way too expensive, to buy and to maintain, and I hope yours is okay and holds it together for you.
That sounds pretty good. I think because I live out in a rural area, we have more things like that still. I don't think I could cope with city life.

Date: 2009-04-15 01:04 am (UTC)You know, the funny thing is, here in the States it's the rural areas that require pretty much everyone to have a car in order to be able to go anywhere at all. In cities you at least have some public transportation - maybe not too frequent or convenient, but it's there. In a far-out suburb, like the one my parents live in, the closest grocery store is a few miles away, and there is no bus to take you there. I don't know what people out there do once they get too old to drive. Or if they cannot drive for whatever other reason. They have to order their groceries online, I suppose.:P
