I thought I had things to say, but my brain refuses to formulate a coherent post. Or even to make a decision what it should be about. Mental impotence, as it were. Happens way too often.:/

Anyway, under the circumstances I'm just going to share a link to an interesting article on gay marriage (which I accidentally found while looking for something else). I like this guy's perspective - even though, personally, I'm sort of alienated from the concept of marriage as such, regardless of sexual orientation of people involved. I just, in a way, don't get why it's so important to anyone at all to be 'married', as opposed to just being together (apart from certain social privileges, which are taken care of by the concept of civil unions, without the need of dragging any religious institutions into it whatsoever). But that's the antisocial in me talking. The humanist in me believes that anyone who feels the need to validate their relationship through a public - be it secular or religious - ceremony should be allowed to do so.:)

But I am always interested in what you have to say, and I love hearing your movie thoughts.

Thank you for saying that.

It's your LJ. It's for you, to post whatever you want.

Yes, I know, but the main reason for keeping an online journal (as opposed to a traditional 'paper' one) is the hope of getting some responses to your posts. Of seeing people share your thoughts, interests, fascinations, whatever. And after the exhilaration of having that with LOTR, it feels rather deflating to realize that most LOTR-folk have moved on, and I don't seem to share any of my other fandom-like obsessions with anyone. I guess I'm just jealous - I keep seeing all the ex-LOTR people squee over some other stuff I'm not into, and I feel very alienated and left out, LOL. I want to share the squee, but I don't get the squee-factor, so to speak, and the things I squee about seem to be highly unpopular among the LJ-ers I know. So that makes me feel a bit jaded, in a way.;)

I hope you can accept my occasional Star Trek related posts

Let me quote you again: it's your LJ, to post whatever you want.:) If you can put up with my notoriously mundane and self-centered rambles, I can put up with you having a fandom or two that I don't share.;) With you, it's perfectly OK, because we have a connection outside of that. But I can count people like that on the fingers of one hand - the rest of 'ex-LOTR-fans' is pretty much lost to me, or I am lost as to the attraction of the stuff they post about these days.:/

Sorry for carrying on like this. Will shut up now.;)
