Rented G.I.Jane. And here comes another nice surprise! I'd never seen that movie before - never wanted to, in fact. When it was first released, I boycotted it on purpose. I hate military themes... and I never was a Demi Moore fan either, so I figured I could safely skip that one. Even when it was on TV a few years back and my roommates were watching it, I didn't join. I only remember walking in on that brutal fight scene where he's trying to rape her, and turning away in utter disgust. And even if I actually saw Viggo's face then, I probably didn't pay attention... because I usually just don't pay attention to brutal macho types with a military haircut AND a mustache. They're as far from my aesthetic tastes as could possibly be (by the way: long hair + a beard + a mustache = perfect, short hair + a beard + a mustache = OK, short hair + no beard + a mustache = from barely acceptable to disgusting, depending on the face it's attached to... and don't ask me for a rational explanation). And certainly that scene only convinced me further that I never want to see that movie. Even now - having changed my mind for obvious reasons - I was still reluctant. I suspected I wouldn't even like Viggo in it. After all, he was supposed to be some disgusting macho type, and in this case, the better he acted, the more disgusting he'd be, right? So I was very much relieved to find that his character consisted not only of taut muscle, but some brains and a heart as well.;) And I certainly wasn't prepared for the great ending. I never ever expected it to move me the way it did. WOW!!! Master Chief rocks!:))) Even if he's not my type.;))))) And from now on I shall know better than to judge a movie by a single scene - that's for sure...
