Guess what? I lost two pounds and two ounces since last Wednesday. Which brings the score down to 156 lbs. That's 7 lbs less than when I started. Seven pounds down in seven weeks. Despite indulging myself sinfully for a good few days in Toronto. I am inordinately pleased with myself right now.:)

So what did I do differently this week to get such a good result? Well... it's very simple indeed. I exercised about four or five times, as opposed to once or twice during each of the two previous weeks. Who would have thought that a scant hour of leisurely stretching could make such a difference. I am seriously wowed by it. Now I can no longer tell myself that it's OK to skip it, because it doesn't do much anyway. Well... maybe it didn't when I ate like a pig. Now it seems to be giving my metabolism quite a serious push. I can almost see my 'love handles' shrinking down... lol.

And maybe I shouldn't say this in public... but when I stand in front of my bathroom mirror, looking at my rudimentary (but still there) second chin, I just feel like quoting Gollum. You know, the part about "go away and NEVER COME BACK".:P

Oh yes. Nothing motivates you as much as actually seeing the results. *beams*

"go away and NEVER COME BACK".:P

...unfortunately, he said that to the other half of his self, and in such cases, it does not work that way.

But congratulations! And I hope you have success!

I fear since you had so much better results by doing light exercise, I have not that great an excuse to skip mine, as well, anymore. I have also lost some weight during the last few weeks by reducing the amount of fat and sweets I ate, and do hope that it will not grow back anytime soon... :)

Oh, I know it didn't work for Gollum.:) But I steadfastly refuse to acknowledge my second chin as the other half of my self.;P

And believe me, I had no idea the exercise would help so much - if I did, I would have stuck to it with much greater determination. But somehow it was easier to say: "I'm so unfit, why even bother"... *headshake*

One thing at a time is what does it. Reducing fat & sweets is a good starting point. Trying to exercise more often is another small, but important step in the right direction. But the heart of the matter is not to get discouraged if you don't see immediate results. Eventually, you will. Just think of what else you can do that's not too difficult right now, and keep going. *crosses fingers for your success as well* :)

And I loved YOUR latest post, and meant to comment... but I am just too busy with this whole new cooking/exercising routine.;) *sigh*

i'd love to know what you're doing. are you following a specific routine? i have a bad back and should be doing stretching daily, and i am terrible about doing it. i want to find a routine, music, something, that i like, to make it more interesting.

I just have two exercise DVD's: one a set of 10-minute Pilates workouts targeting specific areas of the body (abs, hips, thighs & buns - where all the extra calories tend to go; for most women, anyway); and the other one a fluid, relaxing Yoga-Pilates blend (also designed for slimming down and toning). I don't know if this type of exercises would help with a bad back; some of them probably might. I know I enjoy the ones that make me stretch the spine, because I generally spend too much time sitting down and get all stiff and achy on occasion. Also, my neck and left shoulder seem to have gotten out of shape over the years (I can feel a lot of tension there most of the time) - but I probably need to see a chiropractor for that. *sigh*

i've been getting chiropractic for most of my life. i can't imagine where i'd be without it. :)

i hope you keep posting about this (you may have and i don't know yet; i'm behind a few days in my friend list). i'm enjoying it.
